Hello!

Wondering if any MoM’s had any tips on tonsillitis. My Miss 7, gets reoccurring tonsillitis as a minimum once a month, she is on the waiting list to get them out… but she is allergic to antibiotics (yes all of them all and no she can’t handle them). I was wondering if any MoM’s had ‘home remedies’, we’ve tried a high vitamin C diet (doc recommended it) and gargling salt water. Nothing is working. We use panadol to manage temps and pain relief. Any tips?

  • We are on a waiting list for our 3yo who gets its monthly too but since we swapped to A2 milk in March he hasn’t had it

  • doctors wanted to put me on antibiotics for a year – mum refused – and we went to a wonderful doctor who gave me spirulina – it fixed it immediately –
see if you can get her a spoonful mixed in fresh OJ – should fix it
the iodine in it heals the throat –
    nori rolls same

  • i had it for a year when I was about 11

  • Gargle hemp seed oil. You can get it for the health food shop. Put a teaspoon into the salt water and gargle it. Hemp seed oil is great for everyone and everything and not at all a drug and totally safe..

  • Gargle with aspro clear

  • Cut out gluten and very likely dairy and maybe also a few sessions of chiro 🙂

  • Can she tolerate a betadine gargle?

  • Betadine gargle works well for me

  • Manuka honey

  • a friend found the cause of recurrent tonsillitis was actually low iron. when she boosted his iron levels the tonsillitis stopped

  • Inner health plus is a great way to boost the annuity

  • To ease the pain, I use Grappa in my cuppa tea.. lol BUT for a child, I used warm milk with white pepper in it.. At first it tastes crap, but it works..

  • we gargle with TCP which you have to buy from the Uk.

  • If that doesnt help comment below sorry. Try use savcol its a mouth rinse

  • Gargling warm salt warm will help

  • Your poor little girl. This wouldn’t be doing her system very good at all. Try and keep up with the fluids, and some hydrolite iceblocks can help but not everything should have added electrolytes. Honey cinnamon in hot water, tablespoon of honey and a quarter teaspoon cinnamon mixed into hot water and sipped thorough the day. Mind you some people are sensitive to honey too. Lemon and salty water gargles can help too, make sure she spits the salty water out. Regular teeth brushing and dental care. The sooner she gets to see an ENT specialist the better.

  • it might be time to say goodbye to the tonsils! I recommend ginger and lemon with honey in warm water to alleviate the soreness but its not going to cure it 🙁

  • I used to get tonsillitis alot in uni then had my tonsils removed. A doctor once told me to take cold and flu tablets off the shelf to ease decongestion as I used to get a really painful ear with it- it helped calm things down a bit. I used to eat alot of iceblocks and custard with jelly too when my tonsils were all inflamed. They used to fill with pus too which was totally disgusting and I’d be constantly spitting it out as the bits became dislodged. Maybe see a natropath as well.

  • a tip i will give as my daughter was constantly sick is using innenr health plus or yakult daily to help build their immune system especially if they are constantly on antibiotics. I’d also see a specialist poor thing

  • I had a tonsillectomy when I was 6 as I suffered terribly as did my brother. My daughter has never had tonsillitis however, they were so large & she wasn’t’t gaining weight & had black bags under her eyes, she couldn’t even swallow meat poor thing so she had them removed at 5. My son suffered terribly was tonsillitis from the age of 9 months where he was hospitalised for 3 nights. He has had tonsillitis since a few tomes however, antibiotics fixed it for him & he still has his. It’s a shame your daughter can’t take antibiotics as it works wonders. Perhaps a visit to a naturopath may be of help. Good luck, tonsillitis is an awful thing.
