Hello!

Wondering if any MoM’s had any tips on tonsillitis. My Miss 7, gets reoccurring tonsillitis as a minimum once a month, she is on the waiting list to get them out… but she is allergic to antibiotics (yes all of them all and no she can’t handle them). I was wondering if any MoM’s had ‘home remedies’, we’ve tried a high vitamin C diet (doc recommended it) and gargling salt water. Nothing is working. We use panadol to manage temps and pain relief. Any tips?

  • electrolite ice blocks might at least help to soothe and hydrate. wish i could help out more.

  • I suffered from it badly as a child aswell and the only thing that worked for me was the Warm Salty Water. Best of Luck Hope she is feeling better soon

  • I have found steam helps for myself and also my children. I have a facial steamer I use and supervise the kids when they use it and it works really well to soothe the throat. You could use a basin of water and a towel over their head to inhale it – we used to do this as kids, or steamy baths and showers. There are also lots of antiseptic and soothing throat gargles available at pharmacies but not sure if they are suitable for 7 year olds. She sounds like a candidate for having her tonsils removed.
