Hello!

My bub is 8 months old and has a mild case of torticollis. She tilts her head to her left pretty strong. We’ve seen physio but the exercises aren’t helping much. A few days ago we were happy as she started moving her had and neck normally again, but now the tilt is back. An internet search has led me believe its plagiocephaly along with torticolis. A private visit to a pediatrician suggested an MRI of the brain, but I am soooo afraid to do this with my bub. Please help me with suggestions, experience and anything that might be helpful. Thanks.

  • Do you also have to do the MRI with bub? I thought they might sedate her and do it on just her. I’ve had one, terrified of confined spaces, nearly had a panic attack beforehand. But there’s nothing to it. Over before you know it. Just remember to relax and breathe :) good luck

  • I would get the MRI done you need answers and while you delay you will still be none the wiser.

  • an mri wont hurt your bub, best to get it checked

  • I think you are best to follow up with the MRI. It is pain free and will hopefully give you the answers you need. Good luck!

  • there are some good comments here

  • never heard of this :( hope it goes well soon

  • i hope things work out for you :)

  • I hope things have settled for you guys!

  • how did it work out in the end?

  • i hope its working out

  • Go with mothers instinct. Also have as many tests as possible if worried. Then you can rule out things or find an answer.

  • Trust your instincts and follow up with any ideas you may have, I personally have no experience with this condition but have a great deal with MRI’s, they are not something doctors suggest lightly but nothing to be afraid of, children are highly adaptable little people and will heal or respond to treatment very quickly.

  • My mother in laws little boy was tilting his head to the side and they struggled to find a diagnosis. One doctor even said he was just doing it because it was cute?! After a while and multiple tests that found our it was his eyes and he was intact seeing double which is why he had the permeant tilt. The optometrist gave my mother in lay eye excursuses do do with him and after a few years can now see without seeing double. Have you had you little ones eyes checked? May be worth ruling out before doing an MRI. Wishing you all the best!

  • I am not aware of this condition and I wish you all the very best and hope your little one gets better, I would recommend having an MRI they are painless and will show if anything is wrong and be able to treat it
