Hello!

I am soon to go on a long haul flight and always seem to get really queasy flying – does anyone have any travel sickness cures? It’s always worst just after I land and makes it really hard when meeting family as I am pretty grumpy. I have tried ginger but the taste makes it worse.. help!

  • I’ve heard chewing gum helps, but I’ve never tried it myself.

  • Avoid eating just before the flight. Drink lots of water. Sleep on flight if you can. There are several travel sickness options in chemists

  • I have the same wrist bands mom81879 has mentioned but have never had to use them because ginger works for me.

  • I have a couple of wrist bands with pressure points. It’s something like acupressure on the points that calm travel sickness. I think they work, but not sure if it’s them or if it’s me getting a grip on things

  • Yes there are natural remedies like ginger , peppermint, dry crackers , camomile and liquorice root and prescription medication like Promethazine and Scopolamine

  • Travel calm, i feel your pain, i get so sick too :(

  • Avoid eating or drinking prior to boarding and also during the flight. I have a pair of bracelets I bought at a chemist. You put them on your wrists and there’s a metal ball that hits a pressure point in the wrists. These work brilliantly for me :)

  • Tey the travel calm wrist bands for travel sickness. They help alot.

  • ginger is good to have for this

  • You can get travel sickness tablets but in my opinion it makes you feel worse because it completely dries your mouth. I know others who wouldn’t fly without them though, so might be worth a try.

  • Kwells really work, or if you see your doctor, you may be able to get a prescription for some Maxolon tablets, which are brilliant for nausea. Wearing industrial-strength ear-plugs when you fly may also help, as a friend of mine swears by this. If you don’t like ginger, try a combination camomile/peppermint herbal tea, which often settles the stomach.

  • There are some travel sickness tablets you can take, they do work. I used them when we went to Singapore, also some small snacks help. I had problems with my ears – so painful. I was told to suck on a lollie or chew gum when taking off and landing, it really did help.

  • did you feel something to use

  • there are some good comments here

  • Small snacks – eg dry biscuits, nuts and ginger tablets and tea should help. Good luck!

  • I feel for you, nothing worse than feeling queasy when travelling. I fly a bit & always sip peppermint tea on flights & one before whole waiting at the gate. Mylanta also has tablets you can chew on that come in a tablet pack that help a lot.

  • U poor thing that would b horrible!

  • What did you end up using?

  • Kwells is great apparently. The old generation antihistamines such as phenergan can help with travel sickness, but drowsiness can be a factor to consider.

  • My daughter swears by Kwells
