Hello!

This might be a controversial post – but I was wondering if anyone had any methods to try to conceive a girl. We are likely only having two children and our eldest is a boy, I would absolutely love a little girl so looking for advice. I would be 100% happy even if we did have another little boy, but just seeking advice :)

  • 3 boys and 2 girls here. I think there is a way but I’m not really sure. My sister told me to get a girl you need to have sex before ovulation. Apparently the boys swim faster but die quicker than the girls. So if you ovulate after the sperm has entered 24hours before you have more chance of a girl. Worked for me twice.

  • Hmm I have 4 boys!! I definitely can’t help! But I’m not sure anything really works!

  • My tried and tested method is have 3 boys first and then you’ll have a girl haha! I honestly dont think there is any 100% methods to get either gender, it just is what it is.

  • I love reading all the theories, I love the chinese calendar prediction

  • The theory is that if you work out when you are ovulating (you can buy kits at the chemist to be able to tell), then you have sex a couple of days prior to ovulation. The male sperm swim faster, so it’s said that they will get there first and there will be no egg, then the slower female sperm will make it just in time for the egg to arrive, and then you will conceive a girl.

  • There is no true way, but as some others have said I’ve heard of you time doing the deed 2 – 3 days before ovulation you have a higher chance.

  • I’m pretty sure I’ve watched something saying that the sperm that produces girls lives longer then that of what produces boys.

  • I read somewhere that it depends on sperm temperature, but I have no idea if this is valid or not. Best of luck.

  • Spend time daily thinking of you having a daughter – try to manifest it.

Gender disappointment is very real so please seek help if you do experience that. You might think you are ok but it tends to come out (unintentionally) throughout the babies life.

  • I’ve heard of trying to conceive a few days before ovulation favours girls – there’s no scientific evidence to back this up thought and I haven’t tried it. But I have 2 girls and am currently pregnant with my 3rd child…and it’s another girl! Haha.

We were hoping for a boy but we’re absolutely happy & thankful to have another princess in the house!

  • I know, like others have said, there are no proven methods, but I’ve also read that girl sperms live longer so best to time your activity further away from ovulation.
I have one of each and we did nothing different when trying both times, so can’t say that anything specific worked for our girl ????
    Good luck.!

  • I’m not sure there’s anything that definitely works but I’m pretty sure I’ve read that girl sperm last longer than boy sperm so if you have sex a few days before ovulation you’re more likely to have a girl than if you have sex when you’re actually ovulating….

  • I’m not sure there’s anything scientifically proven.

  • All I know is to pray for what you would like but be ready to love whatever sex you end up with.

    Good luck.

  • There are some long held practices in eastern medicine you might want to look into, although I feel it’s all a coincidence if you happen to get the gender you tried for.

  • Unfortunately I have no tips for you but it is definitely worth trying all the suggested ideas that could help. I wish you well on your journey and I hope the universe can provide you with girl, if not I hope that your baby is healthy – that is all you can ask for.

  • No experince with trying for a specific gender, but according to some, to increase the chance of having a girl, you should have intercourse about 2 to 4 days before ovulation. This method is based on the notion that girl sperm is stronger and survives longer than boy sperm in acidic conditions. By the time ovulation occurs, ideally only female sperm will be left.

  • Nothing wrong with hoping for one of each. Good luck with it all. I am sure there are lots of ideas on google and hopefully those that have tried them out can give solid opinions.
