Hello!

I’m currently doing hand washing due to break down of my washing machine 🙁 I’m using soap to wash my clothes but the smell isn’t that great. Any idea what I can use instead?

  • Softly is good for hand washing!

  • I use the same powder I use in my machine. Seems to work well.

  • I am a huge fan of Martha’s Wool Mix – it leaves a great smell on clothes

  • Just drip dry to save time . The kids school uniform turns out smooth as long as I drip dry them without wringing . Otherwise you will get the creases . You can still use a small amount of washing powder as it is not restricted to the machine .

  • definately go for the lux flakes. it is about $5-$7 a box but will last for a really long time. if you have a top loader you can use them in your washing machine also, not for the front loader though

  • Lux flakes are perfect for handwashing!!

  • I always used to use Lux flakes for handwashing

  • it seems liquid is the way to go

  • i too would use liquid

  • I usually use a liquid wash for hand washing as I find it much easier to dissolve

  • I would use a liquid

  • Mum always used to use Velvet laundry soap, or Lux Flakes. For anything with stains, Sard soap is great. When I’m travelling and have to hand-wash clothes, I always have a small container of Bio-zet laundry powder or liquid, which is brilliant.

  • I would soak overnight in a laundry liquid, to help remove stains and refresh the clothes, then rinsed 3 times, its how I had to do it when my machine decided to finaly give up working.

  • Velvet soap, or Lux flakes, or a good liquid same as what you use in your machine

  • I love Lux Flakes and find I have to dissolve it first for hand washing – smells so – good.

  • i just use normal machine powder

  • your normal powder should work – there are usually directions for hand washing. I hand wash is my normal powder but dissolve it first as I find it doesn’t dissolve as well for hand washing as it does in the machine.

  • I find sard wondersoap great as well as Lux flakes

  • I use my normal laundry powder but do try to dissolve it before adding to the sink or bath

  • I dissolve a little ordinary cloths detergent in the sink, soak the clothes for a few minutes then agitate the water. Let them soak a little longer then run them under fresh water to rinse.
