Hello!

What were the most outside of the norm pregnancy aches, pains, side effects that you experienced or are experiencing? For example have you experienced any second trimester uterine aches, pulling, stretching pain? I’d love to hear all about what your pregnancy experience entailed.

  • I found that midges were super attracted to me. Does that count?

  • Fir me it was the constant leg spasms and mega pain during the night. I also had tingling fingers and arms during the night not to mention being super hot 24/7. I had lots of stretching v pain in my abdomen also

  • Every pregnancy is different. I didn’t really have pregnancy symptoms out of the norm. I did get on a certain point an allergic skin infection which was very itchy and annoying. Swollen aching legs were bothersome but not out of the ordinary. Any concern you have big or small, talk about it with your doctor and midwifes

  • All I remember is an aching back and sore swollen legs

  • With both my pregnancies my legs were red constantly.. from about 37 weeks with my second he was sitting on a nerve and I couldn’t walk properly.

Mine were easy as and had nothing else

  • Every baby was different, but not really anything that sticks out in my mind except that I felt nauseous every time I cooked a meal – so I ate even less than normal – all children were normal though I was told to expect twins with all but the third child who was one of twins, but the other twin died during pregnancy. Go figure. I certainly looked as though I was having twins with nos. 1, 2 and 4, but no. 3 [the real twin] I was very small.

  • Back pain was the worst with both of mine during the third trimester all the little niggles had me worried

  • Interesting to read all your stories !

  • It was a long time ago now, but I still remember it like yesterday. I had the usual tiredness and nausea which is what lead me to get a pregnancy test. Turns out I was already 8 weeks. Anyway, I developed terrible heartburn that lasted right up until I delivered. I also had all day morning sickness that was especially bad if I ate fruit, particularly apples. I couldn’t keep an apple down for 5 minutes. I had really strong braxton hicks contractions from the second trimester onward, which was really weird. I didn’t even have a bump until I was about 22 weeks along. My breasts grew from an A cup to a G cup by the time I delivered. I frequently got nose bleeds as well. I would be sitting at my desk writing and suddenly there was blood dripping onto the paper I was writing on…very weird. I had abdominal muscle separation (diastasis recti) so had a strange soft spot in the middle of my belly where I could really feel the baby’s shape inside. I had a wide separation. I developed Polyhydramnios towards the end of my pregnacy so I got really big (in the twins range measurement wise) really quickly which was funny, considering I had no belly at all for the first half of my pregnancy. Because of this my daughter was born preterm, but she was not premature. I caused a flood in the delivery suite after the doctor ruptured my membranes (they used a mop and bucket to clean it up before I could get back on the birthing bed…it ran everywhere).

  • Experienced all of those. Dilation began at 29 weeks, I had a few abdominal pains which lasted for an hr at a time, but no contractions etc, had regular contractions that stopped abruptly, felt the urge to push weeks ago, with no other symptoms!
In this pregnancy, every time I have to pee:
my face goes red and hot, it feels like everything is close to my throat (even a low neck top or a necklace I always wear),
    my heart races,
    I have trouble breathing,
the baby pushes right up against my stomach, making it very hard
My bladder feels like it’s getting electric pulses,
And it feels like I’m about to wet myself, even though sitting on the toilet it can take a few mins for anything to happen!

Not sure anything is considered unusual any more

  • I went with 3 pregnancies.First 2 are fine. But the third one not easy.Lots of cramps and hard to walk.

  • I had carpal tunnel with my first

  • First and second pregnancies nothing unusual, just really bad indigestion (started earlier with each pregnancy), but my third I had heaps of nose bleeds and my eyelashes pretty much disappeared. Mascara did absolutely nothing as there were barely any lashes to work with! Currently in my fourth & last pregnancy… the most painful nipples ever!! Even the water in the shower hurts ???? And I feel breathless all the time.

  • With my first I had really bad back pain in the second and third trimesters. Also daily blood noses (more than once daily actually).
Second I didn’t have too much out of the ordinary- my first I had felt moving at 14 weeks but second and third were a fair bit later than that due to being a posterior position on the uterus or something.
My third I had really bad “morning” sickness for 20 weeks. I also had a lot of amniotic fluid, so that my ribs were being pushed outwards really painfully. To the point the doctor checked each time that they weren’t cracking.
My third pregnancy was also initially a twin pregnancy but I miscarried one at 11 weeks. I then bled again at 36 weeks (when I started to go into early labour, it stopped on its own though) and again at 38 weeks when my son was actually born, probably as a result of the miscarriage. I was also had irregular contractions the entire two weeks between the initial labour at 36 until he was born at 38.

Every pregnancy is different though and has its own quirks. If you are unsure about something talk to your doctor or midwife.

  • There is always lots of pains and aches.

  • I experienced extreme itchiness on my belly, legs and arms. So extreme it woke me up in the middle of the night. I thought winter season have caused it but later found out it’s a not so common cholestatis of pregnancy. I had to give birth early due to its risks.

  • My first starting moving less on a certain point but the midwives weren’t concerned. However there was every time a different midwife by the check ups. I kept concerned and when I made a hospital appointment to book for a water birth they kept me in and did an emergency section at 30wks. Worked out my baby was in trouble as the flow trough the umbilical cord was in reverse. Would I have ignored it and gone to the scan at 32wks she wouldn’t have made it. Her weight was 880grams at birth. My advice take every odd symptom and concern serious and talk with the doctors.

  • I had a weird wee smell that was what made me buy a test.
In my second and third trimester I had kicking like pains that felt like a foot was going to come out of my vagina. Very uncomfortablea
