  • Do 2 budgets; one for exactly what you spend now and one for what you are going to spend money on going forward. Think of every cent that leaves your account (licence renewal, gifts, pet food, a snack when you put fuel in the car, netflix, stan, xbox live, icloud storage etc) its often the little things that add up. The trick is to be honest in the first budget otherwise it wont count

Do click and collect for groceries, you buy only what you need and you know the total before you check out.

Buy in bulk and on special.

    Plan gifts in advance

  • Sit down and make a budget, then stick to it. Get click and collect for groceries so you’re not tempted to buy extra stuff while you’re in there.

  • I’m tying a no spend month. I’m just going to pay the bills and buy grocery essentials, like milk and bread. Otherwise, I am going to use up as much as possible that is in the pantry, fridge and freezer. I am not going to buy anything else for that month. All the best with your money saving goals.

  • Keep a diary of spending – there are some good apps for this and they can analyse where your money goes. Plan ahead and be prepared – ie meals, byo coffee, avoid take away anything, reduce what you buy ie live mimimally, if you have a mortgage, keep all your spending money in an offset account (offsets your interest), pay bills regularly (payment plans so no big bills) pay off your credit card (roll some over to interest free cards if you’re stuck), never pull money off your credit card (interest hits immediately). You can see places like Mission Australia for financial planning assistance too.

  • Hi, some ideas to save money would be to do a meal plan every week so you know exactly what your going to need grocery wise, we also set a curtain amount that we have just for little we just have for ourselves so we could maybe buy lunch etc during the week, and we save the rest. We have a budget/saving plan for everything so we put money aside every week for electricity, mortgage etc. and whatever is left goes into out personal savings. In our house we only do a grocery shop every 12 weeks and just buy our fruit and veg/breads fresh every week. Every thing else we buy in bulk and freeze like our meat milk etc. I have found that this works for our family but every family is different so the main thing is to look at all your bills and find what works best for you.

  • Plan your meals, absolutely. Make us of specials: that can save you a lot of money. Cook more than you need and freeze. Shop around for utilities. If you have a mortgage, make extra-repayments. They will make a big difference in the interests you pay.

  • Only buy what you need. Buy strategically make meal plans and stick to them or hit up the stores when they have clearance items and plan your meals around these bargains. Waste is money thrown away. Review your mobile plans, if your mobile is paid out then analyze how much data you really use and pick a plan suited to just that. Afterall you can connect to wifi quite easy these days. Review your other household expenses see if you can get any better deals. Also go through your home and put aside anything you no longer need, Sell it! Gumtree, Facebook Market place and eBay are a good place to start. You can even start crop swapping if you have any home grown fruit, veggies or herbs.

  • We have money boxes and empty our pockets/purses of coins whenever we’ve been out . Doesn’t take long for coins to add up

  • Also; money saved goes into an account with a good interest rate.

  • I save money by making and sticking to a budget. I menu plan and shop according to specials and seasonal produce. I cook and freeze meals and eating out and take away food is kept for special times. I also shop around for clothes and other goods. Any money left over from the budget is placed in savings. Also; use local resources such as a local library for books and dvds. Libraries also have free events too. Joining online pages can be good for getting ideas and support too. Good luck. :)
