Hello!

My little one has come down with her first cold with a runny nose, congestion, cough and just general feeling unwell. Anything I can do to make her feel better? Recommendations for any products or remedies would be great thanks.

  • I wish we could still get karvol as that was awesome to use.

  • Lots of water!

  • Panadol only if she’s in discomfort or fever otherwise lots of fluid/milk to keep her hydrated and cuddles. I find warm baths help comfort her too

  • Lots of hugs and cuddles for sure. We also used a humidifier in the bedroom to ease the snuffles.

  • We use Vicks baby balm on our son\’s chest, back, and tummy, when he has cold. During his nap/sleep time, we use vicks vaporiser, really helps with his congested nose. When he\’s awake, we use Fess Little Noses Saline Nose Spray to help relieve his blocked nose. Hope your little one get well soon!

  • Vicks Baby Balsalm or Euky Bear are lovely to use to rub on to their chest. Maybe let them have a warm shower with you. The steam would help too. Lots of cuddles and maybe often more frequent breastfeeds or bottles :)

  • Vicks baby rub on sole of the feet, humifier is the room with Vicks drops added, saline nose drops, snot pump, Panadol

  • Adjust room temperature and dress her well.Use vaporizers and Euky Bearub Eucalyptus Chest Rub.

  • Baby vicks on bubs feet, increase liquids, clear out nose before bed with one of those snot sucker things and lots and lots of cuddles!! Take care of yourself too! Its so draining when bubs is sick! X

  • Sitting in a steamy bathroom used to help mine, although dont do it for too long as their temperature can rise. Another thing is olbas oil for kids! life saver!

  • Before night-time sleep put baby vicks on the arch of your little ones feet then on socks. As they get older use normal vicks. This has seemed to work for our family since my tot was a bub. He 8yo now and asks for it if he gets a cold. Mum and Dad swear by this also.

  • Euky bear rub for chest back and feet. A vaporiser/humidifier for room. Lots of fluids, even a hydralyte icypole to rehydrate bubs and lots of hugs and kisses.

  • A relative had to take her baby to hospital when he didn’t respond to natural treatment for croup. He was put in a special steam tent with Vicks in it and it made it worse. They found out he was actually allergic to Vicks. Some pharmacists can give very good advice. They do a fair bit of medical training at University plus medication knowledge. Sometimes their suggestions are as good or better because they know all the latest products that they stock

  • I put a pillow under the head of the mattress, use baby balsam, clear out the stuffy nose and have a humidifier running when she’s sleeping.

  • Steam is good so take them in the bathroom shut the door start the shower and let it steam up, but if your got a vapouriser use in the bedroom that is the best to help them breath. If your concerned you can go to the drs but not a lot you can do for it as it has to take its course and keep fluids up.

  • Poor mumma! Colds take it out of us too! I put a pillow under the mattress to help with breathing I use proper essential oils in a diffuser and I also increase fluids to help flush the toxins out. Good luck!

  • Lots of cuddles, and increase fluids. If possible try to get all the snot out of their nose. It does seem to help it clear up faster.

I also used a diffuser with some oils from chemist warehouse that seemed to help. I also had a doterra easy air which is basically vicks that is a liquid. It helped her not to be as congested at night

  • Our bub just recently got a cold and I bought one of those humidifiers with the oil garden baby protect essential oil.
Not sure if it helped but she was better after a day!

  • Gently rub Vicks on the bottom of their feet and chest. Helps to relieve cold and flu symptoms.

  • Good to talk to your gp.
