Hello!

My kids have so many left over little solid Easter eggs that they have decided they do not like anymore. Has anyone got any ideas of what I could bake/make using the left over chocolate?
Thank you

  • rocky road

  • Choc slice? Or choc muffins, lava cake

  • Basically use them in anything that has chocolate chips or melted chocolate in the recipe

  • Thank you, some great ideas here. My kids only ever eat one or two Easter eggs then they are forgotten and are such a waste, I’ll definitely using some of these ideas :)

  • Sprinkle chocolate on ice cream.

  • Here’s a recipe for you…

  • I would make choc chip cookies/brownies, throw a little one into hot milk to make hot chocolate, chocolate custard, melt and coat fresh fruit like strawberries or banana.

  • Make choc chip biscuits ,this is what I do .

  • The eggs can be broken down and stirred through yoghurt or custard or jelly. Another idea would be to just put them away and bring out again in a few weeks time. Another idea I would think that they could be frozen for future use.

  • What great ideas. We have heaps left too so will be using the hot chocolate and rocky road ideas. Thanks for the great question

  • Some good suggestions here. At least now my family and friends have got the hint that my daughter only likes white chocolate. There were a few years when we had so much milk chocolate that I ended up taking it into work!

  • My fridge is STILL full of left over chocolate eggs and bunnies. I have now been using them for hot chocolates. I melt them with a couple of table spoons of milk.. in the microwave till it makes a chocolate paste..and then top it up with the rest of the milk. It puts a different spin on hot chocolate.. and is yummy as!

  • You could use them in cooking muffins or cakes or melt them down and put them in chocolate moulds. Then you can give a gift of chocolates to someone special.

  • Throw them into muffins! broken up or whole they will be awesome!

  • I like the rocky road suggestion. Might do that my self over the next few days.

  • Look through the mouths of mums reader recipe selection, there are lots of baked goods with chocolate that could easily be modified.

  • melt down and mix with a pack of marshmallows, jelly babies and another other sweet you like, into a slice tray and you have kid friendly rocky road that you can slice up, choc dip bananas and freeze them on sticks, go thru the recipes under slices here on MOM and there are heaps of recipes that have chocolate in them make some that you can freeze then they are around for treats and snacks, Mud cakes use chocolate and if you have some red tulip it makes divine mud cakes. easily made as basically melt and mix but they do take some time to cook. chocolate mud muffins, easy and freeze well for lunchboxes. options are endless. and next year do what I do and buy 1 big nice egg and underwear!!!!!!!

  • Easy. Rocky road. All the bits inside the Easter eggs will make the texture and taste extra delicious.

  • Last year I melted the Easter eggs and used it to dip watermelon slices in and sprinkled the chocolate with dessicated coconut or sprinkles/hundreds and thousands. They loved it. You could also use strawberries or bananas.

  • Ohhhh so many yummy ideas! Chocolate fondue? I know it’s old school but if you use fruit to dip then it’s not soo naughty. Can’t believe your kids have left over eggs! Guess I’m a piggy!
