  • I think definately baby wraps because it helps your baby feel safe and secure during they’re very early days when they still do the jerking movements and wake themselves up.

  • A bassinet. On its stand made life so much easier when they were tiny and new

  • change table. I never had one for my first, but boy it makes a huge difference!

  • One thing we often forget is a bottle or similar of water for Mum. You can get very thirsty while feeding, or trying to settle a distressed or restless baby.

  • The baby monitor is vital.

  • Hopefully now you have at least a cot or bassinet for the baby. Couldn’t live without a nappie and wipes, change mat and baby bottles and formula .

  • Cot, chest of draws, baby monitor

  • a cot with an adjustable base

  • I would be buying bits and pieces now. Best nursery item I can’t live without…..my padded rocking chair. It’s just so comfortable. I breastfeed in it but also settle bub in it

  • The cot.
In addition to that, the baby changing table is the second best thing in the nursery.

  • Cot and basic bedding. (oyur baby will probably sleep in a cot for about 2 years) Large Waterproof Change mat, nappies, bottles and Sterilizing Kit (even breastfed babies like tepid temperature boiled water especially in a warm climate), baby blankets & singlets (they will probably on the list given to you by the hospital), One piece suits, depending size of your baby, mittens (on hospital list) Thermometer if you don’t already have one, plenty of towels – you can use cheap ones or your older ones to protect your clothing when feeding and burping your baby. A relative of mine recently got her list from the hospital and it included baby blankets and mittens (not sure about booties).

  • the best time to buy things would be before the baby arrives. Obviously couldn’t live without a bassinet, :)

  • sales all year round, but mainly june and jan! I cant live without nappies lol

  • I didn’t get my rocking chair till my second child, and It made a world of difference to night time feeds and restless nights. I could doze in comfort with a boomerang pillow to help support my little one, arms don’t get sore, and you can both gently rock to sleep late at night.

  • Best time is now with sales! Nursery items I found essential nappies, wipes, cloth nappies for vomits, rocking chair for feeding, snack and water tray for mummy. Chest of drawers, bookshelf, night light

  • Rocking chair! Good for everyone!

  • For us it was a rocking chair, it was my life saver with a unsettled baby

  • Loved our rocking chair, used to fall asleep in it a fair bit.

  • a portable bassinet !! taking bub from room to room was the best, if i wanted to cook , could just bring him with me , and the hug a bub wrap for shopping , my newborn hated his pram at first so i could get everything done even sit for a coffee while bub slept on me kept me sane . babies actually need very little. its just mums that like stuff , i learnt from experience
ps.also for me personally hydro gel breast pads if you are planing on feeding this way and a snacks in the bedroom draw

  • 4 moms egg capsule that rocks with different settings and you can plug your music into. They are a little on the expensive side but well worth every cent.
