Hello!

We don’t know the sex of the baby due 1st January, so we are not sure what colour to paint the nursery. What do you think and how early did you get your nursery ready?

  • Ours is plain crisp white which gives us a blank canvas. I’ve used decals to introduce colours and fun and they’re easily removable so I can change the design easily as my little one gets older.

  • A light green looks great. We had boy/girl twins and wanted a neutral color for their shared room. Goodluck and Congratulations!

  • We kept the walls the same colour as the rest of the house and decorated with the theme we wanted with decals etc — when we moved into our home every single room was a different colour and we hated it, which is why we wanted to keep it all the same so that as the girls grow it won’t really date and when they’re old enough to want to choose they can. In saying that, my sister did the same thing but painted a feature wall for each of her kids — pink, purple and blue, all shades that went with the neutral colour. Good luck, we had so much fun setting our nursery up!!

  • I was in the same boat. I painted it grey and used pops of colour – pinks, aqua, orange, yellow. It suits him still and he is now 1 year old. I don’t intend on changing it any time soon.

  • You could go neutral brights – mint, orange, sun kissed yellow
Or you could go beige/coffee colours. There are lots if those cot sheet sets made from organic natural fabrics out at the moment which are crisp whites and beiges. In all honesty, we knew we were having a girl but still went beige. I’m just not a fan of girly pinks. They go through that stage when they are 3 – 5 yrs anyway and will want it. Those 2 years of pink pink pink will do your head in! (Assuming you’re having a girl that is

  • Firstly congratulation and best wishes to you all.
For my first (we did not know the sex before hand) we went cream and lemon accessories eg layette/bedding.
    Mint is also lovely.
My sister-in -law thought that babies responded better to bright colours so she went with red.
I prefer pastels but what ever you chose pastels/pales or bright and cheery bub will be delighted ..good luck 🙂

  • The colour on our bub’s wall is a light mushroom colour. It means as he grows, we can just change the bedspread or other smaller items to suit his needs. Plus it’s really nice in the low light.

  • Congratulations! I’m 33 weeks pregnant so our nursery is almost ready!
We also decided not to find out the baby’s gender so have painted the nursery white (Antique White USA) with a grey feature wall (sorry, can’t remember the name of it). the grey looks FANTASTIC and I can’t wait til baby joins us so we can start accessorising the room in an appropriate colour ie cushion for the chair, mobile, maybe a picture or two in say, pink/purple/peach for a girl or a lovely blue/green etc for a boy.
We also decided that we liked the grey scheme enough to continue it throughout the house so all our walls are being painted the same white with a feature wall in the same grey. The colours are fairly timeless & work well in both dark and light rooms & will go with all our furniture as well!
    Good luck deciding!!

  • Our colors were dictated in part by the color of the carpet, because some colors wouldn’t have worked with it. We did blue/yellow for our first two (twins), green for the third, and purple for the fourth. (It was boy, boy, boy and girl, and yes we did know in advance.) We had the first room ready about a month before they were due. The second about a month after he was born – in our defence, he was seven weeks early! And the fourth when she was 18 months old. Again in our defence, I had a stroke when she was 4 weeks old.
