I agree definetly spray and clean carpet or any bedding that dig may have been on.

Wait until your dogsitting is over and then I would use the Raid Exterminator Flea and Cockroach Bombs in your house. It is the only sure and safe way to ensure the fleas do not hatch as it kills the flea eggs as well.

A treatment to the carpet and other areas might be a good idea for peace of mind.

They could be in your carpet. If you don’t wish to flea bomb the house, raid has a spray that kills eggs as well as fleas

No doubt they will be there – possibly as adult fleas, or as eggs. They will be needing something to feed on – and that will be you and your family! They probably won’t just be in the carpet, they will be in the garden and in other areas the dog has been too. I would be getting the place treated and never be dog sitting for these people again. As it was only a few days, I suppose you could wait and see if fleas are actually taking residence in your home – but I wouldn’t be taking that risk. Feel for you…

I would let flea bombs off but sometimes don’t fully work, you can also try this:

How to kill fleas using salt: Obtain some highly refined household salt or sea salt. Make sure it is as finely ground as possible, almost to a powder consistency. Sprinkle it lightly but evenly over your carpet. Brush or rake it in. Leave this in your carpet for 12 to 48 hours, then vacuum thoroughly.

Fair chance they’d be in your carpet sorry. I’d suggest buying some flea bombs
