I am a hayfever sufferer ( coughing and sneezing mainly ) and so is my brother and my son who is constantly blowing his nose during the ” summer ” seasons where there is more dust and pollen . I was diagnosed this after taking an allergy test before I had my kids and some things have helped relieved the symptoms . Most allergy tablets have eased the itchy throat and sneezing such as Telfast , Clarantyne, Chemist brands etc . Also if you have carpet in the house either vacuum regularly or get rid of it as that was the main culprit for my constant daily cough . Apparently it is no good for asthma sufferer either .
I just recently posted a similar question. Growing up, I didn’t have any allergies, about 10 years ago I developed one fir cats. About 5 years ago, it was hayfever. Hubby and son grew out of theirs and I’m growing into it. Their doesn’t seem to be any relief fir me either. Finding these answers helpful, must try
thanks, I generally use something from the chemist too. But when I was pregnant I used a nose spray that I was allowed and safe to use which really helped. Ask your doctor or pharmacist as at times I really suffer and washing my face can only do so much. I also hate eye drops.
This year is a very bad hay fever season. You can try a cortisone based nasal spray, and there are a variety of options to choose from. Keep in mind that when you opt for one of these, which actually help prevent and treat hay fever, that they will take a little while, say a few days or so to start working, that you may need to take an oral anti histamine.
Thanks NATWEEZA for your answer. My eyes suffer terribly and I will ask the chemist about these drops. It really is awful – puffy and watery eyes all of the time.
My hayfever has gotten so much worse in the past few years. It is unbearable at times. I had to try several different brands of hayfever tablets until I found one that worked. Different types work on different people, and the wrong one can make it worse so try them all! Maybe see your doctor about some asthma medication as well, as a preventor really helped me. Then there is the anti-inflammatory eyedrops you can use to stop your eyes watering, I really had to stick to a strict regime to get mine under control, but it was worth it.
