Hello!

I am a mum of 2 and have never spent much time or thought on makeup or my skin. I am only 34 but have noticed how old I look and how dry my skin is lately. I need to start a beauty regime for morning and night, instead of just wash and moisture. What do all you busy mums do? Do you cleanse, tone, moisture etc. or just wash your face? Any ideas would be fabulous? I have sensitive skin so when I do use products, they are natural or organic when possible…any suggestions of products or ideas for a daily routine???

  • That’s my routine. I wash with an anti acne face wash, bloody spots!, and then moisturise.

  • Cleanse, tone, moisturize. I use a good eye make up remover and a face make up remover at night. I always use SPF 15 in my daily lotion (as the sun and smoking are two big agers of skin).I don’t smoke,I use an eye cream and a night cream. Very occasionally, I use a face mask.

  • I cleanse, tone, moisturise day and night and then once a week I use a scrub. I have sensitive skin also and swear by the body shop’s aloe range

  • get a good moisturiser if your skin is dry you will notice a great difference in your skin after using it.

  • I just cleanse, tone, moisturise… Exfoliate once a week… And aim for a home facial once a month, though it’s often longer than that.

  • you sound like me! drink lots of water!
I just use cetaphil cleaner and moisturisers

  • Diet can help make the skin and hair look wonderful, some supplements like fish oil or silica can be great for skin, hair and nails. I prefer eating for my hair and skin, good fats like olive oil and avocado and cutting down on sugary foods helps my skin immensely. You can also use coconut oil to moisturise your skin instead of using an expensive cream.

  • Morning Ritual: Give your face a quick splash of fresh, lukewarm or warm water. This will freshen you up. Washing face with cold water is not recommended as it constricts the pores. Use a cleanser which is specialized for dry skin, massage it on your wet face for a minute. Rinse off with warm water. Use a good toner. Apply a very thin layer of moisturizer and massage it in circular motion. Let it seep in for 5 – 10 minutes. Then apply your day cream or sunscreen if you are going to step out in sun
During the Day: During the first morning break or coffee break, just walk to the wash room and apply a very thin layer of moisturizer which you used during the morning. Apply a good lip balm, gloss or lipstick. Always carry a water bottle and keep on sipping water from time to time. This will naturally keep your skin hydrated. Eat a healthy lunch. Try including vegetable soups, fruits, or yogurt in your lunch. Water based veggies and fruits are recommended. After lunch, using a wet tissue, pat off the dirt and sweat and again apply a thin layer of moisturizer or sunscreen. During the rest of the day, drink loads of water.
Before Hitting Bed: Wash your face with lukewarm water. Don’t rub, just splash water on your face. Use a good dry skin makeup remover to clean your face. Apply a thick creamy moisturizer or a good rich night cream. This will nourish your skin while you sleep, making your skin more smooth and supple. Finally, keep a water bottle near your bed and in your reach. Sip water every time you wake up during the night.

  • I cleanse and moisturise every night and apply SPF moisturiser each day – tinted if going to work, plain if not. I recommend investing in products containing the least chemicals possible and have found great results by doing this. Check out Nourished Life on FB or the web. Irene stocks only the best and can offer you fabulous advice. Good luck!

  • Cleanse, tone, serum and moisturise am and pm.Have a look in the sensitive area for skin products in the chemist eg Cetaphil,Vitamin E etc. Also Rosehip oil is great for dry skin, you only need a bit and it is very moisturising.

  • I exfoliate once a week and cleanse, tone and moisturise. If i’m tired though, i only just moisturise

  • Witch hazel as a toner and coconut oil as a moisturiser! The key is hydration!

  • Thanks ladies,
Lots of good ideas here! II appreciate your advice :-)

  • Also; I use basic products on my skin and Vitamin E is a cheap and good moisturiser.

  • I use a quality face wash, cetaphil moisturiser (cheap and recommended to me by a make up artist) and a form of foundation (powder, liquid or cream depending on how I feel and how much time I have). All my foundations have SPF. If I have time I’ll use bronzer instead of blush and mascara. Lots of hydration is essential – I never drink enough water but I think it is recommended to drink 2litres a day!

  • Wash with soap and moisturise morning, noon and night. Also drink plenty of water and also wear sunscreen when going out. A simple and easy routine which works for me.

  • Hi every morning for me is different but most mornings when i have time with the baby i cleanse moistrise, primer if im applying makeup. Feel free to ask me any questions on my beauty and makeup page here is the link:

    Have a great weekend :)

  • I cleanse, tone and moisturise morning and night. I have sensitive skin too and have found The Body Shop – Aloe range to be brilliant after trying many others. It is gentle and nasty free and affordable

  • I moisturise everyday and night. I use a toner also. Miranda Kerrs range is organic and has a really good face cleanser and rehydration mask.

  • I am a mum of two as well but have always had just a simple beauty routine of cleanser and moisture morning and night. Each day I wear a moisturizer with sunscreen and I use a night cream at night and occasionally I will enjoy a face mask while soaking in the bath (many once every three months!)
