I only use a 50/50 mix of tea tree oil and cheap conditioner. Works every time and will make heaps unlike targeted products costing a fortune for a couple of doses.

We tried the v lice comb but unfortunately it didn’t really work for us as our toddlers hair is super fine, the comb just doesn’t pick them up well.
I bought a lice shampoo set from the supermarket with a spray, shampoo and comb. It only worked after I shampooed her hair in the shower and combed out as much of the lice/nits as I could.
They’re honestly so annoying!

I spend so much money at special treatment by a lice breakout, but daily combing with normal conditioner works just as good.
But ever since the last outbreak we’ve stayed clear for a long time due to several things:
1. first of all we stopped washing our hair with shampoo, as lice like clean hair ! yes that’s right, just rinsing and conditioner
2. I wet and brush the hair daily with diluted white vinegar and some tea tree/eucalyptus oil
3. lice like to move freely trough hair, the use of hairspray and hair gel limits them from moving around.

The family pharmacist should advise you . I heard if you use hair conditioner and comb the hair with a fine toothcomb , it should brush the eggs right off. Go to the chemist if you are not sure . It must be the hot season attracting it .

I believe in combing mayonnaise through the childrens hair gets rid of them.

I use a cheap white conditioner & use it every 2nd night to comb through the hair until no traces of lice left. I use a leave in conditioner spray for every other day to try & prevent them from coming as it makes the hair to slippery for them to hold on & it is also makes brushing out any tangles easier. A little tea tree oil in a spray bottle also helps keep them away as they can’t handle the smell.

After more than 15 year (omg!) of school aged children and headlice battles, I can honestly say that a nightly treatment of cheap white conditioner and a fine tooth comb is the most effective way of dealing with this. If you notice headlice, you do the conditioner and comb treatment every night until there’s no lice or eggs. An enormous pain in terms of time, but it works. As a bonus, it’s cheap and completely non-toxic. Win, win, win!

I’ve heard, but not tried yet, that Coconut Oil & apple cider vinegar works a treat, and is great for you hair too, unlike all the over the counter stuff.. Google it!..

I have used Quit Nits Kit which is pretty good, and doesn’t smell bad..

I don’t use a specific head lice product. I use the conditioner and comb method and do this every day or second day until all lice and nits are absent. It is cheap and effective. It is however time consuming but was sick of buying products that did not work.

We use moove head lice solution it works very well.

A few drop pure eucalyptus oil after shower. It works of wonder.

Swap them around, KP24 is great as it is lethal, but the little devils become resistant to it, my daughters long fine hair would attract them like anything, I used to use Banlice Mousse, which you put on dry hair and leave it in, then wash it out, I found this very effective, the other thing I found is that if you are getting them consistently chances are that there is a child somewhere not being treated, I used to (once I got my kids under control) treat my children every sunday so that they were treated weekly and no lice could get a foothold, this was the only way I maintained my sanity in the end after months of headlice, but banlice mousse and kp24 are great, I never had much success with the natural remedies, but I also found that weekly treatments whilst harsh on hair was essential to keep them at bay whilst there are others that do not treat them as diligently.

I hate kp24 with intense loathing. It burn and stings and smells! It is an awful experience!!!!
Day to day protection we use tea tree oil mixed in with detangling spray, it kills off any stray ones that might arrive before they lay eggs and is a deterrent for lice.
if however we do get lice (been almost 2 years) or we get the note from school saying a child in the class has lice and we all need to treat our kids (every few months last year) we use full marks. Its super effective and great on long hair as it doesnt damage.

I too swear by Tea tree oil for killing head lice. First drown them in cheap hair conditioner. Comb them out. Do this three times in one day. Then mix Tea tree oil and water (Never 100% as it will burn it’s too strong.) in a spray bottle and lightly spray the hair every day. They hate everything about the oil. The smell does go away in about 5 minutes. I sprayed my kids as they went out the door to school uniform and all! this worked for me and many other Mum’s I helped get rid of them.

Tea tree oil is great for killing head lice; however only use a little as it is strong and always test before use. Then loads of conditioner and combing out of the head lice. Use hairspray on hair to prevent head lice as the little ‘suckers’ find it hard to grip.

I used a natural one on my daughter though I cant remember what it is called. The pharmacist said to help prevent lice, spray hair spray on their hair as the lice cant grip on to it.

I have just found lice on my daughter’s head last night! Fast and ugly little creatures! We used Moov shampoo last time and I think NeutraLice the time before that. The Moov was too strong for one of my kids scalps so I will try the sensitive one this time. I think they all work but it’s just about repeating the treatment after 7 days and then 14 days, even if you think there’s no more. Also, using a metal nit comb. I just wish that more parents checked their kids’ hair and treated when necessary. It’s also up to the school to report instances to parents so that they can be aware and check. Sometimes it doesn’t matter how often you treat your kids, if other kids who have nits aren’t getting treated then it just keeps going around.
At my kids’ school last year half the kinders went home early with nits but no one was sent home letters.
