Hello!

What other solids can I feed my 7 month old? So far she eats puréed food like chicken and vege, pureed fruits etc.

  • Toast is great as they can suck on it until it turns to mush. Weet-bix are also great as well as porridge. Rice with pureed veg mixed through, cous cous, you could even try shepherd’s pie as it’s all soft anyway.

  • Avocado, steamed veggies like carrots, sweet potato, capsicum, apple

  • try googline Annabel karnel recipes, theres also recipes on coles and woolies websites for babies.

  • You need to remember that a baby that age doesn’t have enough teeth to chew food. In another article I read that a Mum was giving vegetables and fruit that could easily have choked her baby. She wanted to give her 6 month solids such as carrot sticks. Bear in mind that babies do not digest carrot well if you give it to them at too young an age (the evidence will be in the nappy). bear in mind that some foods are actually acidic.

  • Our bubs always enjoyed mashed banana ,sweet potatoes or stewed apples .lumpy as ur child likes .

  • I make baby friendly meals in the slow cooker – My son didn’t eat solids until 6 months believe it or not. There are some uber cool recipes on this site x

  • anything you eat? baby lead feeding? canned spag, cooked carrots, apple? banana, hot chips, chicken breast?

  • Rusks and toast and fruit are always good starters. I also tried frittatas, slices, pancakes during the early days. My toddler still loves them!

  • You can start giving her lumpy food if she’s eating the purée well. Start by pushing fruits through a strainer so it’s gritty instead of completely puréed and go from there.

  • spaghetti bolognaise but mash it or cut it up.

  • Try giving her some soft chunky food? Like avocado or really ripe pear with the skin cut off. Roasted veggies like sweet potato. Porridge is another good one to learn to transition to thicker food, I mashed banana in to sweeten it. Look up the difference between choking and gagging…it’ll help reduce some anxiety to know when she’s just naturally learning to handle food by gagging it back up. Babies gag reflex is higher up than adults apparently.

  • Whatever you are eating but pureed – roast meat and veg is great. Great recipes on heinz, coles baby, annabel karmel and one handed cook. The more they try under one apparently the less fussy they will be. I cooked things I don’t usually eat like chocko and apple, fennel and pumpkin, rhubarb etc. I used a guide on a website wholesomebabyfood.com http://wholesomebabyfood.momtastic.com/solids2.htm there’s a one page chart that I printed and had on the fridge to make sure my daughter tried what was recommended. I was recommended to try nut paste (smooth peanut butter, nutella) in the first 12 months also I cant remember what age I did this but they can eat soft fresh bread (sandwiches) when they start finger food. I just reserve these ones for home though as so many kids have allergies and don’t want to give her nut spread sandwiches when she’s at a park/around other kids who may be allergic. Hope this helps!

  • Shredded chicken with pumpkin or sweet potato purée mixed through. Avocado and banana is also a hit. Spaghetti Bol is good too.

  • At 7 months I was giving her semi, lumpy foods. I would make us risotto for dinner and give her some with a purée mixed through. I would also give things like pieces of roast chook, grilled fish, soft steamed carrots and broccoli. She got some things off it but it helped become more independent when eating. I also gave her puréed / lumpy foods with either rice of small pasta added.

  • i started my girl with chopped steam veg, few grains of rice and cut up pasta and let her have small pieces of bread and fruits as finger food.
