Hello!

Just after a consensus from other mums who have children with birthdays close to Christmas. When do you hold a birthday party with friends! December already seems crazy enough without adding in a birthday party too!

  • That’s a hard one. I’ll probably would celebrate it the end of November as the December months is so busy for many people

  • Mine is 25th dec. Still have a party on 25????

  • I would do it a month before or a month after.

  • I would say last week in November, so just before the crazy preparation for Christmas and New Years.

  • Friends of mine had twin girls born on Christmas Eve. They decided pretty much straight away to have their party/birthday celebration on the first weekend of December, to distant it from silly season

  • I would hold it eary January. I find that December is really hard for birthdays. My sons early December but I usually tey and hold it on the last weekend of November

  • My friends child is Dec 25th. She always has the party oh Boxing day and always makes it special. Meanwhile my son has his birthday at the beginning of a school holiday and I always delay a month. In the world bs it is what works for your family.

  • Mine is the 20th December. I had one party was in the last weekend before the end of school term, but all family celebrations are on the actual day. Close friends that weren’t away on holiday could still have a play day, but hard to have a bigger party. I was married on my 21st birthday, so Hubby and I have one less date to remember.

  • My son’s 16th Dec & I do the party earlier on in the month so he can celebrate with his friends

  • We are the proud ‘owners’ of 14 year old triplets born on Christmas Eve! When they were little we were able to give them a birthday party on the 24th, and now that they are in school, most years they will have a party for a couple of friends each in the last term usually late October so their chosen friends can make it. One other thing we have done every year since they were born is to dedicate one room in the house to their birthday. This room will only have birthday decorations, whereas the rest of the house will have the Christmas decorations.

  • I guess I would want to have it separate from Christmas, holidays, end of year parties & all the other craziness going on during December. I’d probably opt for a day in early December just so that it doesn’t get missed & bundled in with Christmas.

  • My brother and I never had kid’s birthday parties. We had a birthday tea and our relatives were invited. Our birthdays are in Sept. as was my Auntie. a Great Auntie and Grandma (sadly she passed away when I was 4 y.o. The last thing I remember of her was Mum feeding her Icecream). I have some lovely photos of her. Relatives of mine have birthdays on 19/12 and 22/12. My Auntie once made my cousin a birthday cake and it sunk in the middle. She turned it upside down, put a plate under the hollow and iced what have should have been the bottom of it.

  • My grand-daughter was born 24th Dec. She is having a sleepover with friends this weekend before school breaks up. We have a birthday dinner or small party on Christmas Eve for her & give her birthday presents. She gets separate Christmas presents next day.

  • I’m liking the June thing but it’s a bit late now so am swaying to just before school breaks up. Maybe you can do the JUNE thing next year.
HaPpY BiThDaY for the 23rd young one. :-)

  • I reckon in the New Year. It’s easier. My daughter’s birthday is the 30th of Jan. By that time everyone is over partying. Either way I’m sure your child will love it.

  • My birthday is 20th December, my younger sisters is 25th December. We had birthday party’s on alternate years (me one year, her the next) they were always pretty awesome, and like others have commented just had them during school time, a week or two before so that friends would be around. Also my mum always went to a lot of effort for us on the day, cooking our choice for dinner, and usually having grandparents over and a special cake. Mum always told my sister she was lucky because she often had extended family around for her birthday. Our christmas day had a unique structure too – we would have croissants for breaky for her birthday, and she got to open my birthday present straightaway. Then we would have church, christmas presents, christmas lunch in the morning. At about 4 o’clock the day would stop being christmas and be all about Her, mum would even cook her choice of birthday dinner – whatever it was! It was a pretty crazy day, but also pretty ridiculously special, she never had a boring birthday! Someimtes we got combined birthday/christmas presents, but usually they were twice as awesome as a normal birthday present, so that never bothered us. It was a very busy time of year, but I don’t remember ever feeling disappointed.

  • My cousin was born January 3 and missed out on parties because everyone was on holiday. Just like the other members, he had a birthday party mid year.

  • I have a cousin whos birthday is New Year’s Eve. So is her daughter. 3 minutes later she would have been a new year baby.
One month we have 4 birthdays – on 3 days in a row (one day there is 2 in different generations). One has a birthday on 11th September so is reminded of 911 every year.

  • Everyone is super busy at Christmas time so of course you acknowledge their birthday and give them a gift but dont have a party. Celebrate their half birthday instead and on the 23rd of June you have their half birthday party.
I always said that if I had a child that was born on Christmas day then I would celebrate their birthday on the 25th of June. My youngest daughter was born on the 25th of June…LOL She has always told people that Christmas Day is her half birthday.

  • Do it earlier in the month so they can still have their school friends.
Some kids change at the end of the year so best before they finish.
