Hello!

Hi! I was wondering whether anyone had an overseas location to recommend for a family holiday for a couple of weeks, with 3 and 5 year old boys. We have been to Fiji before having kids, and could consider the Coral Coast … but would love to hear other suggestions of places you have travelled to. Somewhere with swimming close by (beaches, lagoons or pools). We’re hoping to travel this Easter. Thanks for your advice!

  • Le Lagon resort at Vanuatu has kids club as well as lovely shallow sheltered lagoon, beautiful resort, beaches & very friendly people.

  • What about the whitsundays?…not overseas but it would feel as if you are :)

  • Queensland is not overseas but there are so many great places for kids and adults alike, also keeps the money in Australia.

  • Have you thought about New Zealand? The weather can still be warm in march April – especially in the North.

  • have you made a choice? :)

  • I loved reading all of the mums answers here, I have always been sceptical about taking little ones overseas

  • Can’t go past Bali, even with the awful news of the Qld mother and daughter. I’m over here in the west and honestly every WA family has been there once, twice or more. We started holidaying there with 2 toddler daughters and have now clocked up over 20 visits. It’s one big holiday island full of families from all over the world. Mind you it’s cheap as chips to get there from Perth.

  • GUAM is a great place if you book into a resort. I stayed at The pacific Island Club. Next door had a Disney like park for kids and so many swimming pool with water slides it would take all day to get around. We also booked a week on a little island Truk which was great to get to know the locals. We felt at home and the island is so beautiful.

  • Tasmania is great! Heaps of things for kids to do. Ok overseas I would consider Canada, California USA or England.

  • Sri Lanka. We holidayed there with our 3 year old and 3 other families with young kids. There was plenty of child-friendly things to do. Beach resorts and safaris. Great place for a holiday.

  • Hawaii is very child friendly! Took the kids when they were 10mths and 3 yrs. We stayed a few days at the Aulani Disney Resort which was amazing and a week in Waikiki. There’s so much to do with kids, the beaches are beautiful and even the top restaurants welcome kids with great kids meals and a friendly attitude.

  • I took my sons to Bali when they were 4 and 6 and they had a great time at the resort but the beaches weren’t great. We went to Phuket last month (sons now 5 and 7) and loved it. We stayed at the Centara Karon Beach resort that had 3 pools, one which is kid friendly and had slides. Beach was only 10 minute walk and excellent for kids. Plenty of other beaches in Phuket so we visited all. You can go on a 15 min speed boat ride to Khai Nok island which is kid friendly and kids loved because as soon as you walk into the water you are surrounded by fish. The only negative about Phuket is the long plane ride to get there.

  • I live in Tasmania, Australia on the North east coast. We manage holiday rental homes, 2br and 3br. The homes are near the water where it is safe for the kids, I can give you a great price. The youngest is free, and possibly the 5 yr old too. Please visit our website http://www.eastcoastbookings.com and send me an email. We can definitely give you a price you could not refuse. Thank you and I wish you luck even if you don’t choose us.

This photo is of our latest addition ‘The Shack”. It is a 3 minute walk to George’s Bay, St Helens. I am sure the kids will enjoy it. The other home suitable would be ‘Dune Villa’, this is a 3br home. You will see the differences on the website.
Best wishes and happy new year.
    xxx Dee

  • Canada is great for site seeing and has one of the world biggest indoor pools in a shopping centre in Edmonton

  • I was going to say Fiji, our Gold Coast and Barrier Reef islands have kids clubs catering for the younger ones.

  • I recommend Bali, Vietnam and Thailand are great place for family holiday.

  • I agree with somewhere close like Bali – my 18 month old nephew has just come back from there and he had a great time.

  • Bali, Thailand, Vietnam or somewhere like that? Take the kids out of the main tourist areas and teach them a bit about the different cultures instead :) Or Kenya or Africa on Safari? I can personally recommend Kenya as we went on safari there a couple of years ago and it was amazing! :)

  • Gold coast? They would love Wet n Wild!!!
