Hello!

I have been passing out or collapsing nearly every day for the last month or so. So far epilepsy, heart problems and blood pressure issues have been ruled out. Does anyone else do this?

  • I’m glad it resolved by itself ! Must have been so scary !!

  • This would be very worrying. I hope you were able to work out what was causing it.

  • Glad that it is resolved and has not come back. =)

did they do Iron studies? Low iron can cause low hemoglobin and will definitely give you fatigue and light headedness and in a serious cause – fainting.

    Hope all is well now!

  • Wow, how scarwy for you. I’m glad they have ruled out do much. I hope they don’t come back

  • No. I’m glad you’re seeking medical help.

  • That would be pretty scary. Hopefully the medical profession can give you an answer soon. Are you generally fit and healthy? Good nutrition is really important. Eat well – chicken soup, ginger omelet, etc etc depending on your culture. My mum used to steam a whole chicken and collect the soup/tonic from that for me to drink….one chicken only produces about one small bowl of soup.

  • maybe you are not getting enough oxegen, sounds silly but good deep breaths and exhaling slowly is both relaxing ad energy boost to brain. We myself included only breath shallowly or even hold our breath unaware. It will not hurt you sogive it a go,also plenty of water to drink and my doctor recomended coconut water also. The heat got to me and I was clumsy and feeling faint, bumping intothings ,so staycool helps too. me doing art at Buddist temple

  • When my daughter was in high school , she fainted twice and nothing was determined why . Hopefully it will stay away for good .

  • Thank you all for your concern. I have been working with a neurologist who specializes in epilepsy and I have spent a week in the epilepsy unit at the Royal Melbourne Hospital but they have ruled it out totally. I had sleep tests etc also while there which showed nothing, Blood tests have all been normal so its not low iron, and definitely not due to too much caffeine as I don’t drink energy drinks and am lucky to have one coffee per day (not even eating chocolate).
On the positive side they seem to have disappeared as quickly as they arrived – I haven’t collapsed for over two weeks now :)
Whatever it was seems to have righted itself!

  • Gosh it has been 12 days now do hope you have answers …if not please see another Dr.
    wishing you well.

  • Go to neurologist and a cardiologist… Also, what about diabetes or an imbalance disorder like Meniere’s ?? Good luck finding an answer x

  • Keep on going to your GP and work together to find answers.

  • Oh dear. I had this issue when I had low iron and I was fine once it was addressed. Hopefully your doctor finds the problem so you can start treating it. Good luck.

  • There are so many things it could be – diabetes and chronic fatigue are also possibilities.

  • Attention Administration : this is a warning in case jenniw misses the other article not applicable for points !!!!!
Another cause of collapsing can be drinking to many sports drinks which it is reported may cause heart problems – they may not show up though (I know of one case that the problem didn’t register on ECG) and issues such as yours. One of the reasons is the excessive caffeine level. Drinking too many cups of coffee in a day can cause issues – heart palpitations, fainting etc. In the other article the lass states that the excessive intake may have caused her to have 2 misscarriages too.

  • Poor you how scary. Please see your doctor and get to the bottom of this so you can get back to normal. good luck.

  • The last time I felt very faint and dizzy was in fact in the midst of anaemia. ( low haemoglobin blood ) . The doctor prescribed me some iron capsules and then I was fine after I finished the course. I also looked very pale so that was why he was suspicious. Please see another doctor if you are not happy as there is a reason for everything. You may even be very exhausted from stress , but you need to take notes of when it happened etc and discuss this with the doctor .

  • i had low blood pressure during pregnancy so maybe you aren’t eating enough, try drinking juice. i hope that you will be fine.

  • Have your iron levels been checked? If your Dr. doesn’t suggest it, ask if some blood tests can be done to check various levels. I think your Dr. needs to take this more seriously unless he has arranged extensive tests. Have they done an MRI Scan at all? it will show various issues if the right tests and scans are requested. I know of two who had inner ear infections that didn’t even feel the pain. They were diagnosed as suspected epilpesy before the cause was found. One child her legs went blue either the day before or the day she had a seizure as she was going to sleep at night. The dr. cannot see that far into your ear with the equipment. There are several types of epilepsy and some don’t show up on some of the tests. Some patients have to do sleep studies with wires etc attached to their heads while they sleep. Do you get any warning that you are going to collapse/faint at all? If so try to get to a safe place and lie down and try to protect your head. If you can lie on your side any saliva you have in your mouth will run out of the side of your mouth, it won’t run down your throat and make your gurgle or you inhale it into your lungs. To me it sounds like a form of Epilepsy. suffer from one form of it and another adult relative of mine suffers from a different type. There are many different types. More is known about some than others. Have you been referred to a Neurologist who specialises in Epilepsy? It could be a low level of something in your blood….or a type of diabetes. If you don’t get any satisfaction fairly quickly, I would be consulting another Dr. If necessary I would even ask to see a different dr. in the same medical centre who may have different ideas

  • I’ve got one friend that used to collapse a lot. But she had a problem of low blood pressure. Did you visit a doctor? You must be quite worried.
