Hello!

In 35+ years I have never had this problem but now nothing I do will keep it in place. I am assuming it is the fabric, but of the new quilt or the new cover? Or do I replace both? I have sewn buttons in the corners and ried clips. It’s so frustrating.

  • Alot aren’t cotton 100 percent cotton I found all the polyester mixed quilt covers did this they’re a silkier feel and I think it just keeps sliding about inside

  • I always find the same with doonas, glad it’s not just me.

  • Story of my life! I find upping the quilt size to be one bigger than the cover helps somewhat but unfortunately I think it’s down to quality of the quilt itself (and maybe also filing type). We are on the second quilt for my daughter and no luck so far but will keep trying. Sometimes it ends up like she has a sheet around the top of her body and the quilt is AWOL beyond her feet!

  • I think it comes down to the quality of the doona and the cover. I have a quality doona and covers for quite a few years now and have no issues ever. But the new ones all slide around inside the covers and bunch up which annoys the heck out of me having to shake it all back into place all of the time.

  • I have this trouble to, so now I buy a size up. For example if you have a double bed buy queen size.

  • Yes! My problem as well. This never happened with the old quilts but only with the new ones. It is so frustrating. I have sewn the quilt into the cover, but then the whole thing moves as well. GRRR!

  • Yaaaaas! ???? I had some of the good old bedspreads when I was a kid and I’ve been hunting them out for my kids, given up on duvets – they just turn them into lumps within a single night!

  • Omg I feel the same way. Sometimes I find if I turn the doona the other way it fits better I’ve noticed some have ties on the inside to help keep in place.. I find different brands fit better..

  • this is why i’ve started just to buy bedspreads

  • My suggestion is natural fabrics …particularly linen . Silky fabrics just create slip.

  • Rotate, or fluff it up if you have the strength and height. I also resorted to sheets and treated it more like a blanket. Still moves about, and the ‘warm’ bits end up at the bottom. but I think less so and just rotate. usually lasts at least a few nights until have to rotate again.

  • I did this for ages until I realised I had it around the wrong way

  • Omg this!! It’s so annoying
I was hoping there might have been some good answers in here but looks like we are all in the same boat. I’m thinking if anyone would have anything for it, it would be Amazon!

  • I use to have this problem with my sons quilt. I have put it down to the cheaper polyester cotton blend material. (I don’t have the problem with my quilt which is 100% pure cotton).
I have resorted to making my sons bed the hotel way. They is a sheet. The quilt (no cover) then the cover on top. Everything stays put sooo much better (surprisingly) and is so much easier to make everyday.

  • Literally having the same problem. No solutions yet… stopped by to see if there were any clever hacks in the comments.
Seems like another job on the annoying pile.

  • I have the same issue, it won’t stay in place ever. It’s so frustrating.

  • It’s so annoying. It does it a lot with our summer cover cause the fabric is really slippery.

  • oh my goodness, what a coincidence to come across this post – me and hubby were just grizzling about this last night!!! We are forever trying to fix up our duvet inner which has slid somewhere into the abyss of the quilt cover ARGH so annoying. Perhaps we’d better invest in a better cover, how does everyone go with linen fabric quilt covers?

  • It’s so annoying, I never remember having this issue as a kid! I know you can buy special clips, but I just keep turning it around every day.

  • I have no answer, but you certainly aren’t alone with this issue!
