Hello!

This morning, we visited the doctors to discuss bed wetting. After the appointment, we were sent home to “wee in a bottle”. Mr 6 did his duty, and my god did it smell! Not only was it foul smelling, it is also extremely dark.  When he was born, up until about 9 weeks old, he had severe jaundice. He drinks water non stop throughout the day and doesn’t consume any other fluids. He eats a healthy diet of fruit and veg, plus the other staple diet needs. He doesn’t indulge in much artificial sugars etc. Why is my son’s urine so dark? Does anyone know what could cause this?

  • Hope things are getting better?

  • I would be taking back to dr and asking to see a pedi. I really would it could be a few things okay so do not jump. Just see the dr…

  • How did it go? Did you end up seeing a doctor?

  • I hope you’ve been back to the Doctor about this & have a solution, but just wanted to mention that if he is consuming a lot of water & his pee is still dark & smelly it may be to do with blood in his kidneys or an infection so best to get checked out.

  • Hope everything is alright.

  • I would see a doctor about that especially as he drinks alot. Maybe he’s brewing a Uti? Does he wee plenty through the day?

  • Sounds like he need more water

  • I would have thought water intake…but seeing as he drinks alot perhaps see a GP?

  • How did you go, did you find out why?

  • Hoping that your doctor can answer your questions for you – dark coloured urine – (like tea coloured) can contain blood traces and can be indicative of infection or kidney problems.

  • I hope everything turns out well Good Luck

  • Have u had it tested?

  • dehydration is what usually makes your urine dark, i suggest that he drink alot more fluids water is best

  • only reason I know of is dehydration. Is water enough for him? Maybe he needs some electrolyes too

  • This is def something for a doctor to look at as it could be as simple as a UTI or it might be nothing,

  • There are lots of causes for dark urine, do not worry too much. Your DR will determine what is the cause through a sample. As long as you know you feed him a healthy diet and gets gets lots of sun, fresh air and water that is all we can do as Mums. I am sure he is OK.

  • Could be a number of thing just try not to stress till you get the results.

  • I hope the doctor can give you more info. There are heaps of things that can cause urine to be quite dark, but just remember some people do naturally have darker urine

  • I hope everything turns out well!

  • Dark urine and white stools meant hepatitis for my son last year.
