Hello!

This morning, we visited the doctors to discuss bed wetting. After the appointment, we were sent home to “wee in a bottle”. Mr 6 did his duty, and my god did it smell! Not only was it foul smelling, it is also extremely dark.  When he was born, up until about 9 weeks old, he had severe jaundice. He drinks water non stop throughout the day and doesn’t consume any other fluids. He eats a healthy diet of fruit and veg, plus the other staple diet needs. He doesn’t indulge in much artificial sugars etc. Why is my son’s urine so dark? Does anyone know what could cause this?

  • It could be as simple as something he ate. It often looks darker in a specimen jar too than when we usually see it diluted in the toilet.

  • Best if your doctor answers that question, sorry I don’t know.

  • I would suggest taking, your son back to the GP & show, him or have Mr6 yr old pee in container at docs, I’m not sure. Could there be one in particular fruit or veg he consumes a lot of. I know asparagus can make urine smell.
