I’m addicted too coles etc when they send out fly buys promotions or cash off your shopping when you spend a certain amount each week. I noticethe rewards are different for everyone though. I got $75 off my shopping today. very happy, just got to be careful what you buy in the weeks before
(ie. got to spend $130 a shop over 4 weeks!)

  • I LOVE these promotions!!! At the moment I have to spend $80 for 4 weeks in a row to save $75 off my 5th shop. Great!!! Each time I do it, the next one wants me to spend a little more. So I switch to the promotions from Woolworths (who are trying to get me back to them after shopping at Coles for 5 weeks). Then, when Woolworths ones asking me to spend too much, the Coles ones have gone back down to a reasonable amount again. I must have saved around $200 – $250 this year. Fantastic – love the competition between the two stores.

  • Just be careful – these aren’t always worth it.

  • I just find a lot of these promotions are targeted at making you buy more. Woolies in particular offer $10 rewards dollars if you spend $120 in one transaction. The way I see it if I only need to spend $50 I am far better off sticking to what I need rather than buying unnecessary items to get a bonus that it seems I’m paying for. I think the big supermarkets need to re-evaluate what they think a bonus is!

  • so dodgy coles as always, new promo goes up, its not $140 a shop 4 weeks and only get $50

  • These promotions are a sneaky way to get you to buy more. If you are aware of that I think it is the first step in making sure that you use them for your advantage i.e. collect the bonus points etc. when you were actually going to buy something anyway, otherwise just ignore. Hard to break a habit maybe, but try ignoring one offer and then sometime later another. Gradually I think you’ll feel happy with just buying what you want and if they happen to give you something extra great.

  • I love Flybuys but will only purchase something if I use it or interested in giving it a go for something different.

  • I had a similar problem with flybuys; I would spend moe and buy things I didn’t need to get bonus points. The best thing I did was switch to Aldi for shopping and unsubscribe from flybuy emails.

  • I like promotions, but only if I am buying something I need anyway. Then is is a bonus!

    • Yes, that’s why I like Flybuys. You accumulate money by spending for your groceries. Everybody should have it. It doesn’t cost anything and you can go on just buying what you normally buy.
You can get extra Flybuys if you buy some special products but you don’t have to.
While in Woolworths I like earning money buy buying fruit and vegetables (one dollar for 10 dollars spent) but I don’t like the idea of being obliged to buy certain products to earn anything else.

      • Yep! I agree – I use my card when I shop at Coles.

  • I look at the promos and pick and choose the ones that suit me. Good to get bargains and rewards where possible.

  • I got the 75 dollars reward too! But I generally don’t like these promotions where you need to spend more than 130 or 140 dollars in one transaction. Personally it’s quite difficult for me to reach that amount in one transaction. But I must admit that the emails with special promotions attract me. Both in Coles and Woolworths!

  • Im always on the look out for good bargins, but i do find it hard to reach the totaal they want you to spend, the first couple of weeks are easy but the last can be a little harder.

  • I can’t say I’m really addicted. If I see a promotion and I can partake in it, then I will. We live a fair way from our local Coles and Woolies and tend to bulk buy when we are there, so the 4 week one would have been no good to us. I got an email yesterday tho from FlyBuys. Get 10 times the points on all shops til Thursday. That’s pretty good
