I was picking up my 8 year old from school. I was waiting at the school gate for him when I seen him there was a couple of things I noticed..
1. He was limping
2. he had a fat lip that had some sort of white cream on it
3. he had about 5-8 stickers for good effort all over his school shirt.
He promptly got in the back car seat and put his leg up on the centre console.
Mum: how was your day?
Master 8: It was the worst day ever!
Mum: Why, what happened?
Master 8: I tripped up the playground, broke me leg and busted my lip open.
Mum: ok, why do you think your leg is broken?
master 8: (points to a tiny little bump on his shin-maybe about size of a 5c piece) look it’s massive!
Mum: ok, I don’t think it’s broken but we’ll keep an eye on it. What’s the white stuff on your lip?
Master 8: oh that’s some sort of cream the teachers put on us to stop bleeding.
Mum: oh ok. So did you get all the stickers for being brave or what are they for?
Master 8: no. I got all my sight words correct today, I didn’t annoy the teacher, I done all my work by myself and she was very proud of me.
Mum: oh that’s excellent mate, well done! So why was it the worst day ever?
Master 8: Weren’t you listening! I broke my leg!
He was walking properly half hour later with no breaks lol his lip took about 3 weeks to heal though!

  • I love how kids see things. My kids are exactly the same. Ant turns into elephant in a second.

  • My kids are dramatic about injuries too.

    • Yeah y 9 year olds dramatic because it’s unusual for him to hurt himself. my 4 year old bounces lol we’re lucky if we make it through a day without him bashing his head on something, getting a cut/bruise or just generally hurting himself. His learnt to bounce lol
