Bad Flu - Parents be aware - Real Mum story on MoM

My oldest daughter, Miranda – I do talk about her a bit on here. she has ADHD/AUTISM and with this has a HIGH PAIN THRESHOLD. Anyways Tuesday she came out of school looking rather pale. no temp. She said she was tired and cold – SHE IS NEVER TIRED NOR COLD…. drive home from school takes 3 mins… she feel alseep. 3pm No temp all normal. 3:30 check temp and its 39.8 WHAT THE HECK!!??!! and she crashed and went down hill fast. thought it might be a 24 hr virus..come wednesday was just managing to keep temp at around 38. then lastnight she flatlined… temp spiked to 40… and we struggled to keep it low for long. Went to the doctors, and he believes its that horrible strain of flu thats going around…I have never seen my girl so sick.. she is so weak she cant walk…its heart breaking to see her this way…Just have to watch closely… no going out in public as we dont want to spread it. and have to watch as this virus can attack the lungs and cause so many complications. if no improvement by saturday we have to go back… hope she dont get worse or its hospital… what I wanted to share this for was… BE EXTRA VIGILANT PLEASE… there is so many cold, and kiddie flus and 24 hr bugs going around that its easy to be misjudged whats going on.. Hope noone else has to see their child go through this horrible strain of flu… its aweful. stay safe this flu season.

Oh god, that sounds awful! My sister in law is not long out of hospital after her flu turned into pneumonia. It’s been a month or so and she’s still not 100%. Scarey stuff, more so fir little ones

Gosh that sound awful, hope her recovery from it is quick as it came on. Poor little ones when they are sick it awful.

I hope Miranda is feeling a little better today & the fever has gone. You feel so helpless when they are so ill, poor little mite. Lots of hugs & staying in controlled temperature is best.

  She is on the mend a bit today.. There is a little life back into her cheeks.. Last 48 hrs was very scary. Thank you for all the love and well wishes xx

yeah i heard that there was a really bad strain and we just got over a flu and it was flooring! we couldn’t avoid it as the littlies brought it home from daycare and that is the scary thing. All those little kids dealing with this.

I hope your daughter gets better soon. Thank you for making people aware of this and taking the sensible route to minimising contact with an extended amount of people. I know for some work/job/income wise that it sometimes seems impossible to do this but I always find it frustrating how many people go out and spread it about.

Hope your little girl is getting better! It’s horrible when you see them with a virus and there is nothing you can do to make them better! Thanks for putting it out there. Will be on a look out for symptoms if it attacks so quickly!
