Hello!

I recently asked a question seeking advice from blogging mums. I wanted to know how you can get paid to write. There was a genuine comment on there about doing it because you love it, not trying to make money. So i decided that i didn’t explain it very well and i would try to elaborate a little more here.

I have an established blog and my blog does have a lot of subbies. I wanted to run comps to give back to my loyal readers. I write about gaming and stuff that is considered “Geeky” but these things form a big part of my personality lol.

I love my blog and have dedicated so much time to customising it. I am considering paying for elements to make visiting it a better experience. I would love to get “subsidised” for this though as it is fast becoming an expensive hobby. I feel like i have hit a good target range of people and get a lot of likes etc. My readers are loyal and therefore i would love to run comps to say thanks.

I am not looking to get rich quick or anything and i am not trying to advertise my blog on this site out of respect to the demographic of people that visit here. If you like gaming, you might find my site anyway ya know! I find that gamers, techies and geeks are the nicest bunch of people. We get along just fine and the loyalty that these people display is so heartwarming! I feel validated by all the positivity that my blog receives. It feels good to write about something that you love and then have a stranger tell you that they can relate and they love what you have written. This gives me a great feeling of achievement and satisfaction.

I feel like i write my posts for me but i also write for my followers. Their encouragement and support really makes me want to do big things with my blog but i am not sure how to take the next step. I don’t feel confident in asking companies to help run giveaways and one company that has products in the gaming department, contacted me and we organised a giveaway. I did my research and everything was legit but when it came to giving them the green light, they cut communication with me. I am thankful that i decided to sit on this news in case it didn’t happen. It turns out that i was right. I kept thinking about what i did to turn them off all of a sudden and then a friend suggested that it wasn’t about me at all! She suggested that it might have been someone trying to get some glory and admiration but then couldn’t pull it off. Maybe she was right.

I ended up giving away a download code for a dance game paid for off my own back, just so i could thank my followers. I promoted this giveaway on another social media platform and found that i got a lot of followers, just so they would have a chance of winning the game. When they didn’t win, the new followers disappeared. I decided to just keep my next giveaway as a private thing for my loyal followers.

So here is a little backstory if you have been kind and patient enough to get this far into reading this post. I really do appreciate my followers (who become my friends) and i would love to have the opportunity to say thanks!

  • Promote yourself more across social media, something will eventually come of it. The more people who see it, the more likes, and the more opportunity.
