Hello!

After 7 years of receiving the Disability Support Pension, Centrelink have decided to review my payment due to them changing their points system. Centrelink pay me a maximum of $4000 a year, due to my partner working. My health problems won’t improve, they’ll only deteriorate and they know it. I know they’re just doing what they’re told. But it angers me that I have to do this to keep my payment. When young girls are popping out babies so they don’t have to work. When there are lazy bums who don’t look for work. Worst of all is the politicians who happily squander the tax payer dollar. They spend more on a weekend on the Gold Coast then I earn in a year. Then decide to do these reviews hoping to cut people off and save money. More for them to waste! Maybe one day there will be pollies who care for the people and not their pockets

  • I agree.
I’m angry at Centrelink for making my mum look for work and take courses just so they can keep paying her for retirement when there are all these so called unemployed people going around driving BMWs, Lexuses and the like?!
My mum has worked her whole life here so I don’t understand why she has to go through all this crap when there are those clearly rorting the system without having to do anything and getting away with it!!!

  • I think its just to weed out people who shouldnt be on it.. Not to affect the genuine… I wouldnt stress as you say due to your partners wage you earn so little from centrelink as it is.(not the full pension). So once they do a assessment it should be a while before they come back to you again.. I have a friend who is on it and shouldnt be on it.. She likes it due to parking and cracks it when the parks are taken by others who may really need it eg the driver is abled bodied but the passanger is in a wheel chair etc…. she can walk a couple of miles without issue..

    • Parking in these spots when you do not need it – is so unfair to poor people that desperately do need it.

      • I get that Centrelink need to weed out the ones ripping off the system. But I’ve already qualified for my payment. It’s upsetting that my condition has only gotten worse, and will continue to do so, but Centrelink think they can put me through added stress by making me do it all again. All because the government want money to support what they see as important. They’re basically taking from the poor to finance the rich, yet again. Why can’t they just take the time to sift through their customers and see them as individuals, not a herd of sheep that need treating the same. And it’s always the honest ones that are penalised, the ones really ripping the system off continually get away with it. Frustrating!

  • I don’t know your full disability details so it’s hard to comment on this but I do know that the government needs to crack down on some users, I know someone that receives a payment and she is just as able bodied as my self and I claim or receive nothing. Can a person exaggerate illnesses or a doctor be way to lenient? ..I am not sure. Like many things some bad apples spoil the whole batch and make it hard for the real people who need help.
Wishing you all the very best .

  • Good luck with your review. Maybe if they cut you off you might end up with a job, that could be good
