Hello!

When out shopping yesterday we heard a women yelling then she came running down the street with top and knickers on – she proceeded to strip off refusing any help. Eventually bystanders managed to put a towel around her – she was a bit aggressive and refusing help. She was questioned by security guards (who were quite familiar with her) and then comforted by another person. My 8 year old was quite close and didn’t want to leave. She was also very concerned for the woman and upset by the incident. I explained it in terms of some people suffer from illnesses we cannot see and need help and support. Some situations are hard to explain to little ones. I was glad she had a sympathetic view point and not a labelling attitude as some others do.

  • That would have been so hard to explain to a little one. It’s true, there are just some things that are inexplicable

    • Agreed – we have been trying to explain the French terror attacks to our 8 year old – felt it important to talk about it at home before it was heard about in the schoolyard environment.

  • Absoluetely! Not easy to explain at all. But showing that we care about other people helps a long way.

  • It sounds like everyone handled this situation well with care and understanding. Often people do not want to get involved and to show concern is important for everyone in a community.
