Does anyone relate to the more you replace those cups and glasses the more they either go missing or break easily. Ive filled up my cupboard so many times with dear ones and cheap ones. No matter what the price is they still break. Sometimes it the same person and all you want to do is hide your best cup so it doesnt get broken. Glasses seem to just jump out of the cupboard. I know this is not true but it makes you wonder. I have tile floors also which dont help. As soon as they hit the ground theyre gone.

Then there are those cups that take up so much room theres no where to put others. Glasses come in all shapes and sizes too. Then theres those glasses and cups i refuse to buy with either a small bottom or a rounded one ready to tip.

I feel like buying paper cups but they are expensive and build up land fill. Hard plastic is maybe the go but even they break. Give me your experiences please

  • I’m the opposite, I’m forever throwing out cups and glasses because my cupboard is always overflowing. It’s like they breed in there or something

  • We have a glass stealing monster in our house :)

  • Yes there does seem to be that one person who breaks the cups and glasses! Regarding the jumping out of the cupboard cups/glasses I’ve put one of those non/anti slip mats into that section of the cupboard and the jumps don’t seem to occur any more ;)

  • Lol, I actually have a weakness for the coke glasses, I love them, unfortunately kids and these glasses do not mix. I have had to place my in use glass out of reach and my other glasses are in a high cupboard that only my husband and I can reach, we have not had too many incidences as we have nice plastic ones for the kids.

  • Haha we go tupperware doesn’t break unlike glass

  • We actually weirdly don’t have this problem! Although in saying that, everyone has their own cup or mug and that’s the only one we use. It means less clutter, less cups to hit against each other and luckily less breakage.

  • We have a glass burglar in our house! They always go missing.

  • my kids are little and so they only use the plastic ones. We don’t usually break cups but wait till the kids get bigger lol. I had a bbq a few weeks ago and my guests broke 2 that night.

  • Hahaha, yes the offenders in my household are glasses and form one reason forks! Glasses and forks have been disappearing or broken. Personally I think hubby takes the forks to work and leaves them there….. Along with my best Tupperware containers too!

  • hmmm…I have to say that I have never had this problem. I have had the same plate/ cup ware for 5 years and the glasses longer than that. My kids only drink out of their character plastic cups. I think it just comes down to people being clumsy and giving children the breakable cups and glasses instead of plastic.

  • Bamboo cups are nice, there’s a range of eco friendly cups that are not glass or ceramic that could be the answer for you, check out some eco shops online, there’s also etsy which has some interesting custom made cups etc :)

    • I really like the idea of bamboo cups.

  • My husband does the breaking and he reckons it only happens to him on Fridays!!!

  • Yes I have the same problem! Slate tiles in kitchens is not the answer. I’ve learnt my lesson that stacking glasses is not a good idea either.

  • my goodness its so true every week something gets smashed on our floors

    • Especially on tiled floors. They should make cups and glasses that bounce

  • We go through phases and at the moment we have too many cups and none seem to be breaking!

    • We have one of those friends who come around that break them regularly

  • Yep, I reckon we break a cup/mug at least once a week between us all! We are so clumsy- it’s a bit frustrating!

  • I always find sturdy plastic glasses and mugs for littlies work well. If they have their own colour coding for glasses and mugs they look after them as they own them!

  • Actually, we’ve been pretty lucky and haven’t broken much.
