Hello!

Hi all,
Writing this as I have recently gone off my blood pressure tablets, fluid tablets, and guess what, my blood pressure is fine. When I was 24yo I was told my bp was sky high (175/110 and resting heart rate of 75-95) and this required medication. This was pretty typical of most of my last 23 years of treatment. Different docs, different tabs, high readings.
My revelation is I am sure my BP was a symptom of what I have now been diagnosed with …. Acute anxiety and Stress Disorder. Guess what, now my fight or flight response is under control, my blood pressure has been perfect for the last 2 months – average readings are 124/75 and resting heart rate 54-65.
So, I guess I am writing this to ask you all to respect and listen to your GP, but seek other opinions too. I now meditate, have strategies in place to deal with stress and feel amazing.

  • People have high blood pressure for many reasons and some people do need to stay on medication to control their blood pressure. Some people do manage it by diet, exercise and stress management. Working in consultation with a GP is a good idea for anyone that is thinking of coming off their medication. Glad this has worked for you and the techniques have helped. Wishing you good health.

  • What a pity that it took so long to find out the real reason behind your blood pressure problem. I’m glad you did now. And that you could finally get rid of that medication.

  • It is amazing how mental health issues can effect our physical well being. But please do be careful before making any changes to your medication.

  • Its always worth getting second opinions and getting health reviews from time to time. So glad you have found a cause of the BP and are managing to control issues through alternative methods that are working for you.

  • Unfortunately, even trying this might kill me. Get a second opinion BEFORE you stop your meds!
