Since my boy turned 5 there is nothing he accepts from others. When you want to bath him, he refuse by telling you that, you do not know that he is five. Even to write in class, he refuses and reminds his madam of his age. He use to come to the main church with us, but now he chooses to go to Sunday School, the childrens’ section. Its so amazing.

  • Thank you! I actually find delight in him and his love for electronics, he finds games in every phone he comes accros, to the amazement of the owner.

  • I’m all for not forcing help with tasks that a child has mastered, but he is the child and you are still the mum, the adult in charge, the boss, and that is not negotiable. Your son is very independent in a good way and you can be proud of his progress as a five year old. With the guidance of his parents he will grow to be a fine young man. Keep up your good work : )

  • Yes kids do grow up fast but a 5 year old still needs rules, and they need to listen to what they are being told i would try and nip it in the bud now before it gets out of hand and he’s 13 telling you what to do.

    • Agreed. Some are more independent than others, while others want you to do everything for them. The importance is rules and guidelines of what behaviours are acceptable and particularly those towards adults.

      • Wish you were there to help. He is hyperactive, which is too difficult to deal with most of the time.
