Hello!

Since having my little man, I have really gone off using social media. Before bub, I vowed not to be “one of those mums” who posts each time their child spits, goos, poos or pulls a weird face. Anyone else feel the same??

  • I never post photos of my kids on social media, and don’t mention them by name.

  • It’s a bit of worry to see so many bub pictures on social media, only because of the sicko perverts out there! It is nice to share with family though. So I take photos and send them. Frame them up for the grandparents. Good for you for not sharing

  • I think that social media has its place but sometime people can overshare. Good on you for sticking to your decision

  • Also; we do need to protect our children; it is good to be careful with photos and information that is shared.

  • Personal choice; however; I choose not to overshare.

  • it is up to the individual really

  • I’d still rather see photos of every little thing someone’s child does, rather than photo after photo of what someone ate for dinner. Don’t know why some people have the idea that others are fascinated with pictorial evidence of their lamb chops & mashed potato dinner.

  • You might wants to ask why people do post maybe family lives far away and this is the only way they can see the child growing. Everyone is entitled to enjoy social media how they see fit.

  • Heaps of people (including me) on Social Media that don’t post pics of their children with hourly updates :-)

  • I like to post a pic every now and then so that interstate family can see how much she has grown etc. I much prefer to spend my social media time (little as it may be some days) trying to find new ideas to keep a toddler busy, recipes to keep her healthy and any tips and hints I can to try to stay sane :)

  • Yep. And I utterly refuse to post any pictures of my kids anywhere on the internet, ever, for any reason.

  • Yes, social media drives me crazy sometimes. I tend to only use it to keep in touch with family who are far away. I find I spend way more time on sites like MOM and pinterest lately then anything else. Well thats when i can find time. Like now. lol.

  • I agree. I think social media is way overused and really not always that interesting. I love it for seeing photos of special occasions or travel, but really hate it when family members, living the same house, message each other on it. Those messages are not meant for each other but for the public and that is too artificial for me.

  • I would just give it a break for a while and spend it with you little one.

  • I have my moments with social media too & I think you need to find a happy medium with it. I’m sure many of your friends would like to see photos or baby’s “firsts” especially if you don’t see them often or they live overseas etc. I have a friend who is always posting something about her kids a 100 x per day & its annoying. It’s like she needs constant praise or ressurance.Enjoy your baby & give social media a rest for a while.

    • Tend to agree with you. My family live interstate so it can be great for them to see some of my son’s special moments. Some people tend to go a bit overboard and it does become a bit much. I spend periods of time where I don’t feel like going on it at all and certainly don’t live my life updating people on insignificant moments with hash tags etc. I do like checking in on people who have moved away or I don’t see much at all due to distance or business etc – it makes me feel at least a bit connected with them.
