In the last two weeks in two different small towns, a 15 year old girl and a 58 year old woman both hung themselves due to bullying.
The main bullying was on social media, absolutely disgusting. How dare these bullies give so much pain to the stage where two beautiful woman feel they have to take their own lives. One happened to be a friend of mine – the 58 year old, her name was Vicki. She bred miniature pigs, so an old friend of hers decided that whether it was due to jealousy, I don’t know, but Vicki walked outside, her husband sat in the lounge room. Vicki called a friend in Queensland, and told her what she was planning to do. Her friend panicked and rang the local Tasmanian police, when they arrived, her husband walked out the back door, he found Vicki had got some string from the Hay bales, climbed up onto the back of the Ute and jumped off. Her husband screamed for the police and tried hard to get her down and couldn’t. But, it was too late. BULLYING IS DISGUSTING. How dare these bullies get away with Manslaughter, that is what it is as far as I am concerned. For the family of the 15 year old girl, how do they cope with the agony of losing a daughter, she hung herself in a park, What if small children saw her, it would be in their nightmares for years. Then Vicki’s husband, he cannot get out of his head the vision of finding her. I wish I could do something to talk to students at schools, and give them the vision, hopefully it would stop bullying, just a little bit.

What else can I do?

  • It is a shocking epidemic. My niece is currently experiencing it. Last night she got texts and phone calls telling her she needs to die and they hoped she’d overdose or kill herself to make everyone happy. Just a couple of messages in a long line of bullying. She’s admitted to having enough and I am scared fir her :,( They just don’t stop

  • yes we need to teach people not to behave in this manner but we also need to teach our people that they are worth it. Their self esteem is so important- at any age- and they need to have a strong character to know that, whatever negativity is being directed at them, reflects the bully -not the victim!

  • Bullying is terrible at any stage of life, the affects and consequences don’t change as we get older. Such a huge issue, but agree with other comments that parents need to be role models

  • Bullying is definitely unacceptable and does occur to children and adults.

  • It’s really important that we all teach our kids not to be bullies. That would be a start.

    • I agree with your comment about education starting when kids are young. Parents need to be good role models in every forum; including on social media.
