I’m just going to vent, I love my kids so much and there is nothing I would not do for them, yes you are sensing a but coming. BUT, I think they are genetically programed to push my buttons and roll me to the looney bin. I’m not sure if it’s the perfectly practiced high pitch whining. Or the fact that only my things get broken. Or after Ive cleaned the whole house and finally sit down with a cuppa tea I look up and see hands prints all over the wall. Or the car trips, oh my not even going to start. But today took the cake, I was rushing around and doing errands, we go to the shops (one i’ve never been to couldn’t find a thing). Both kids want to sit in the trolley seat, so one in the seat one in the trolley sitting down. I’m doing my shopping, passing things to the devil child sitting in the cart, all seems to be going great. I’m at the veggie section I’m nearly done. Then I’m standing there and i feel something drip all over my foot. It’s milk and water then i look behind me there’s a trail all over the shop. After investigation I figured out devil child seeming to help me, has been sitting in the trolley stacking all the food and punching holes in everything with a thumb tack. (No idea were he acquired said thumb tack) I was mortified, the whole shop was covered in milk , juice and chicken and beef stock. I was crying, the poor people in the shop assured me i was not a nut. And wouldn’t even let me pay for all the damaged stock. They said it’s mother’s and you deserve a break and replaced all my groceries. Made my afternoon. Meanwhile Devil child is sitting in his room, thinking about the letter he’s going to write to the shop.

  • Oh no, sounds horrible…..but I did laugh! Such a sneaky little child to do that! I hope a lovely letter was written?! How lovely of the store to be so understanding and not letting you pay for damage…..and you’ve never been there before

  • I feel your pain. I’ve got a 4 year old and 9 year old. Both boys. It’s a mission to keep them in line sometimes when we’re out. The 4 yr old is a little terror somedays and full on. His had 3 concussions and 1 seizure post head injury so far. He is either go go go or unconcious. As long as you know your doing the best you can, that’s all that matters.

  • I think we all “go to this place” being a parent is a tough job and not the walk in the park some people think it is! Glad you werent being judged when all that stuff happened at the super market my 3 yearold who was two at teh time had a huge tantrum and smashed glass jars of sauce from the trolley i tried to pay for the damaged stock buut a staff member refused to take payment! I felt horrible but nice to have assurance that it happens to others and not be judged!

  • Oh no don”t worry though you are not alone. I have had something similar happen to me. Well done on making the devil child write to the shop. It goes to show we mothers all have that one child and we all need a good vent.

  • Well, at least you will be able to look back and laugh (in years to come). I applaud your discipline in making said child write a letter to the shop in apology, it just proves your doing things right. Good work mamma. Big thumbs up
