Hello!

I thought of this last year as I wanted something different to the usual shop brought advent calender but also didn’t want to break the bank. All I had to buy extra was the chocolates and the tissue paper :) It was very easy and fun for my daughter (now 4y) to do and she had heaps of fun trying to guess which chocolate was in each one as we used a couple of different chocolates :)

Material

  • 24 Toilet Rolls
  • 1 Print out of numbers, you can find them on google - there are heaps of designs available :)
  • Sticky Tape
  • 24 Lollies or Chocolate bars or small toys - anything you want really :)
  • Paint/Glue/Glitter/Textas whatever you want to use to decorate the toilet rolls
  • Tissue paper cut into 24 little squares

Method

  1. Decorate your toilet rolls with your child
  2. Cover one end of the toilet rolls by taping a square of tissue paper on the end
  3. Put your treats into the toilet rolls
  4. Tape the numbered squares onto the other end of the toilet rolls sealing the treats inside
  5. Arrange them throughout your Christmas tree, they should sit nicely in the branches

Notes

Great for a unique advent calender that wont break the bank :)

  • What a great idea instead of purchasing a store one.
Double the fun as you get to do craft with the kids and they get to enjoy it

  • Cute idea, and you get to choose what you want to put inside whereas shop bought ones are a little hit or miss (and pricey too!)

  • What a cute idea. You could also put in little items from the $2 shop if you don’t want your kids eating chocolate from the advent calendar. Great post!

  • Great idea!! I would imagine even pasting them or sticking them together could also work? With 4 kidlets, might be a bit harder to just stick them through-out the Christmas tree lol. But what a fabulous idea!! The cheap party bag toys would be a great idea to add in these I think. Might also work with some rolled up card do you think?

Anyways, going to give it a darn good go =D Thanks heaps for sharing this!! Can’t wait to get started!!!
