10 lucky winners will receive a copy of The Drop-Off by Fiona Harris & Mike McLeish!

The Drop-Off is a hilarious look at the unlikely friendship between three parents who gossip, laugh, drink coffee and would rather keep to themselves at school drop off. A cross between Kitty Flanagan and Liane Moriarty, this is a novel that will make you laugh and cry while reminding us all of the redemptive power of friendship, community, forgiveness… and good coffee!

And it all begins at The Drop-Off.

Written by husband and wife team, Mike McLeish and Fiona Harris, The Drop-off is based on the award-winning, critically acclaimed web series of the same name.

  • I never enjoyed school drop offs, all of them were a bad memory for me, trying to make small talk with the other mums, I would sit in the car until the bell went

  • No problems with my children being dropped off or collected – but I always remember my own drop off and the other children asking when was my mum going to come and pick me up. In those days mothers were very young and mine was in her 40’s, so I passed her off as my gran, rather than admit it.

  • My school drop off??? Worst memory….watching mum walk away with my sister, leaving me behind at school even tho I was bawling my eyes out. That really hurt :,(

  • being left at the gate and bullied my entire childhood schooling days

  • It’s happened to us all
No bra .. pj bottoms, hair pulled up but not brushed, panda eyes and the teacher wants to have a quick word ????‍♀️

  • My eldest is Starting prep next year, what a lighthearted way to read into school life as a mum

  • Going there alone when I saw kids being dropped off by their parents, I was so jealous.

  • Not drop off, but pick up, 6 months pregnant and my new car got reversed into ???? not my day.

  • My kids arent old enough for school – not sure if thats a good or bad thing but i love to hear stories of what im in for!

  • Most days are pretty bad with school drop off. I have always been bad with making friends and being a mum does not make it easier, so no friendly chit chat at school drop off.

  • I’m a teacher…I’ve seen and heard so many different things at drop off and pick up times while on yard duty!! My son is only 9 months old, I’m sure I’ll have some interesting stories to tell in years to come!!

  • The first school pick up of my sons kindy year and I forgot the trigg hitch for the camper trailer was on my car and backed straight into the limestone wall taking out a chunk and making a hell of a noise.. everyone in my son’s kindy knows me!

  • My worst memory was the first drop off – I was crying afterwards and worried all day. But seeing my son run up to me at pick up with paint stains on his shirt and a big smile on his face was a massive relief; he had loved his first day!

  • the first day of any term for the tears and the so Mum I don’t want to go

  • Worst memory was taking my child to school and it seemed really quiet turned out to be a student free day.

  • Every school day was mission impossible getting my son to school, so i wasnt buying the excuse of it being a pupil free day. We pull up out the front a low and behold the schools empty…. I learnt how to read newsletters quick smart.

  • Rushing my daughter to school then realising we were an HOUR early! At least I had time to get a coffee!

  • My favourite memory is chatting in the car park for over an hour and not realising it had been that long! I thought it was very funny, but work didn’t.

  • We exactly have a trio at school drop off and we go for walk, coffee, pot luck after drop off..

  • My son at just 5yrs caught the bus 40km to school. We learnt letters writing in the sand while waiting. One day it didn’t arrive and we were so busy having fun we didn’t notice for 30 minutes. We found the road flooded and got to stay home.
