10 lucky winners will receive a copy of The Drop-Off by Fiona Harris & Mike McLeish!

The Drop-Off is a hilarious look at the unlikely friendship between three parents who gossip, laugh, drink coffee and would rather keep to themselves at school drop off. A cross between Kitty Flanagan and Liane Moriarty, this is a novel that will make you laugh and cry while reminding us all of the redemptive power of friendship, community, forgiveness… and good coffee!

And it all begins at The Drop-Off.

Written by husband and wife team, Mike McLeish and Fiona Harris, The Drop-off is based on the award-winning, critically acclaimed web series of the same name.

  • Not only will this make you treat each moment more preciously, but you will be more patient with yourself and with others, recognizing that there are millions of moments on the path to any worthwhile achievement.

  • Arriving at the school gate to see all the kids dressed in school colours for a special day, whilst my son had his school uniform on. Not okay and a parenting fail. Thankfully, my dear friend (who shares parenting with her ex) was in the same boat. Missed that note!

  • I remember the first day that my mum dropped me off at school. I remember standing in front of the doors while she took a picture and hugged me goodbye… I’m sad and excited to do the same for my twins when they start school next term!

  • As a teacher I remember a poor mum sneaking in the playground in her pjs (skimpy pjs ;0 ) as her car had broken down and she needed to use the phone.I offered her my coat and when her husband collected kids at end of day returned a bag containing borrowed item.It was her pjs not my coat!

  • Tantum from my kindergarten son, woken in car to collect his older brother. The water works sprung a leak and screams were high pitched. I wasn’t sure how he was going to get from carpark without Tassie devilling it on strangers car. I survived deathly stares of parents watching.

  • Pulling up to school I couldn’t believe my luck! Got the primo parking spot right in front! Walked my son to the gate and said goodbye. I go to end of street and do a uturn and a woman is waving frantically at me. It was a student free day!

  • Embarrassing parents feature heavily in my worst memories – Dad driving the wrong way to drop off and Mum cranky because I didn’t want to give her a kiss – so she gave my cheek a lick in front of my besties! I convinced them not to visit.

  • When I was in a hurry and reversed my car out of the garage with my door open and my door smashed into the garage pillar and broke off

  • All good here, don’t remember a bad drop off yet, but only Yr 1, so early days I’m sure

  • As a child, one day, I was unable to dropped off and was forced to walk a fair distance to school. It was just my luck I happened to get pooped on by a bird and had to go to school like that. From then on I made sure I was driven to school

  • The best part of school drop off is being able to watch your child walk into school each day a little bit more grown up and confident. Most precious memories.

  • Mine’s from school pick up: I forgot completely that I had a very young child who needed picking up from school until I saw kids in school uniform walking past my front gate. Luckily we only lived a block away and I RAN.

  • I went rushing out the door dressed for work and ready to take on the corporate world after dropping my Kinder son off at school. Found a perfect park (never happens) and jumped out to walk him in and realised I was wearing my slippers! I was asked regularly where my slippers were for the next 6 years when I was at his school.

  • My kids are in their 20’s now – and although they are no longer friends with some of their class mates I am still good friends with their mothers, and have been since school drop off days. I was actually out for drinks last night with 3 of them!

  • I grew up a very nervous child so school drop off and walking home from school was very nerve racking for me . I’d constantly be looking over my shoulder … waiting for someone to scare me or worse ….

  • My worst/ memory of my first day care drop was leaving Elly at the centre and sitting in the car crying because she was so happy to go and play

  • Being the only mum who was not staying for the special activity day. My child walking alone in to school while I had to leave, broke my heart.

  • Taking my daughter to school dressed as a pirate for Talk Like a Pirate Day, not realising the kids weren’t supposed to dress up as pirates! It was mortifying for my daughter.

  • Trying to get my 4 children out of the car and impatient parents honking their horns and abusing me for taking to long .

  • It has to be when my niece was very young and i volunteered to be the responsible *adult*. Woke up extra early, got dressed for work, dropped her off to school only to find out it was the wrong school!
