10 lucky winners will receive a copy of The Drop-Off by Fiona Harris & Mike McLeish!

The Drop-Off is a hilarious look at the unlikely friendship between three parents who gossip, laugh, drink coffee and would rather keep to themselves at school drop off. A cross between Kitty Flanagan and Liane Moriarty, this is a novel that will make you laugh and cry while reminding us all of the redemptive power of friendship, community, forgiveness… and good coffee!

And it all begins at The Drop-Off.

Written by husband and wife team, Mike McLeish and Fiona Harris, The Drop-off is based on the award-winning, critically acclaimed web series of the same name.

  • Dropping my child off in my pjs because we were late And his teacher and the principal were waiting to speak to me about an issue from the day before

  • When I realize I was wearing a breastfeeding bad on the outside of my shirt. Has spoken to male principal that day. It was horrifying.

  • A school drop off like no other,
It involved my sis and my brother,
Quarreling and fighting and hits they would cop,
Out came my mother wearing pajamas and flip flops.
Pulled both by the arm and into class they went,
Very embarrassed at how they were sent!!

  • Has to be one of the mums showing some grotesque porn involving animals to all and sundry – I’m sure we supposed to freak out but I just looked at her rather sadly. She keeps wanting to be my frien on facebook too…………………………

  • worst memory was leaving and my child cried and cried and cried. it made it so hard.

  • Worst memory
When my son got his fingers caught in the car door! A cry worthy moment.
Yes! He did get a lot of attention and I learnt not to rush anyone getting out of the car ever again.

  • My best friend and i dropping our kuds off at kindy and both ran off to play while we ran off for coffee.

  • Id would absolutely love to win this book. It sounds like Fiona Harris and Mike McLeish have put together a hilarious novel! It would be just what the doctor ordered… a good laugh!

  • The best days are when my children have their friends waiting and smiling for them at the gate 🙂

  • As I dropped my three at their small country school before work, another mum approached. “What shame you have to leave. Your children will be the only children in the school school sports carnival today without a parent.” I was gutted and I feel guilty to this day.

  • I never got dropped off as a kid and my kids are too young but I did the school run with my nephew’s and I inevitably can’t find one and all the other real parents just stare at me while I run around making sure they remember not to get on the bus.

  • We haven’t started school yet but I can only imagine the stories we will have! This sounds like a great read

  • I forgot my newborn son in the classroom when dropping my daughter off. He was in a baby capsule, the teacher came running after me. Good old sleep deprivation.

  • I have a had a few crazy memories, but when breastfeeding my little girl, I dropped her brother off to the bus, ran down to the bus to apologise for him being late and when I got back to the car, I realise my left side breast was half out haha The bus drivers horrified face, the cyclist riding past shaking his head…it all made sense haha

  • Drop offs were not the problem it was pick ups I’m my case forgot to pick up the kids after school a few times.

  • crazy times!!!! Drop off and pick ups just aren’t the same at the moment our social interactions are so difficult at the moment to stay in touch with friends and to stay safe. catching up with other parents and forming new friendships has become much harder at the moment. Id love to have a read of this and get back in touch with what human life used to be like. I know it will change hopefully very soon cant wait to get back and catch up with other parent’s face to face.

  • Being that parent with the screaming kid who didn’t want to go to school. He would scream from the moment the car engine stopped in the carpark and I felt awful dragging him in to prep each day.

  • Late every day, that’s us. This particular day, later than normal. We arrived at school, grabbed the school bag rushed my boy to his class only to see an unusual look on his teachers face. I had forgotten to tell him to get changed from his pyjamas. School hoes on, so who was she to complain.

  • One morning at drop off I slammed my fingers in the car door right at the school gate. The only thing mum had on her to absorb the blood was a pad. I ran to the sick bay hoping no one saw me with a pad around my fingers!

  • Worst drop off was 1st day of school and the tears and crying when we were trying to leave. Makes it so hard on the parents
