10 lucky winners will receive a copy of The Drop-Off by Fiona Harris & Mike McLeish!

The Drop-Off is a hilarious look at the unlikely friendship between three parents who gossip, laugh, drink coffee and would rather keep to themselves at school drop off. A cross between Kitty Flanagan and Liane Moriarty, this is a novel that will make you laugh and cry while reminding us all of the redemptive power of friendship, community, forgiveness… and good coffee!

And it all begins at The Drop-Off.

Written by husband and wife team, Mike McLeish and Fiona Harris, The Drop-off is based on the award-winning, critically acclaimed web series of the same name.

  • My best memory from the school drop off when I missed my ride and walked home by myself when I was 5.

  • Oh I miss the days of school drop off.. there were so many days I would run into work late because of long catch up in the car park of the primary school

  • Oh I miss the days of school drop off at primary school… catch ups in the car park, running late to work.

  • I don’t do school drop off often due to work, husband was away so was dropping my daughter at a friend’s early before school, driving into town I looked in rear view mirror and realised she was still in the car and I forgot to drop her off!!

  • Pickup – I had been to a very important meeting for work & thought I’ll slip in & get the kids and carry on to the office and got caught in a thunderstorm and was soaked through to my undies and my white shirt became incompletely see through.

  • My best memory was when my sister and I were so quiet in the back of the car on the way to school, that our dad drove straight past our school and to his work. We thought it was great getting to be late to school!

  • I don’t like the cranky parents who think they own everything and are rude to all other parents

  • The day my little sister was born, my dad forgot to pick me up from school. Gave my mum and her “drop off” girlfriends hours of laughs afterwards!

  • Two mothers were having a fist fight, one kept saying “not here, at school”, one of their sons was crying at the school gate. People dodged and others stared. They eventually broke it up themselves. Not something that I have seen before or since.

  • Best memory was our lil guys first day of kindergarten in 2018. I don’t usually do drop offs with my hubby as I’m in a wheelchair but I couldn’t miss this one!!!!

  • I used to hate going to school when I was little and one time I forgot to take my teddy so was in floods of tears, terrified to go in, so my Dad went off and bought me a new special “school” teddy. I still have it.

  • I used to hate going to school when I was really little and one time I forgot to take my teddy with me and I was in floods of tears and terrified of going, so my Dad stopped off on the way and bought me a new special “school” teddy, who I named Ben. I still have it to this day, and when I was older I loved school. I’m not sure when it changed but I’m sure Ben was a part of it.

  • The traffic was so bad.

  • An unfamiliar mum asked why I’d walked my kindy kid, toddler, and baby to school in pouring rain. Learning I wasn’t allowed to drive after a stroke a few weeks earlier, she requested my phone number. Whenever it rained, she’d call: she’d collect my son and do the school run.

  • I always went to school on the school bus… every day even my 1st day of school! I remember being a bit scared but quickly got used to going without my Mum!

  • Took bus with my youngest for daycare dropoff and he had a number two accident… and had no nappy on as we were on the tail end of toilet training

  • My worst memory of the school drop off was my daughter in year 2 hiding my car keys in the toy box. I had to run to a neighbour and get her to run my two eldest children to school while I searched the house for my keys

  • Luckily I haven’t had to tackle this one yet!

  • WORST- breaking down in the school driveway (AGAIN) at drive thru pick-up. Having the Principal in heels, push my car down the drive way & out of the way because I’d caused a pile up & parents behind me were NOT impressed or sympathetic. My kids were mortified.

  • My daughter started kindy this year and her first drop off she clung to me and kept saying ‘I want to stay home with you Mum!’ I was trying to hold it together myself but I said ‘you’re going to have the best time, let’s go!’
