On first encounter, a narcissist may appear driven, charismatic, ambitious, disciplined and even fun. Narcissism is a trait each of us exhibits to a greater or lesser degree. It fuels the confidence to take risks, however, it may also fuel from pathological antagonism, characterised by grandiosity and attention-seeking.

In a society obsessed with wealth, status and appearance, the label narcissist is used everywhere. However, it is widely misused to describe anyone who offends us. The synonyms of narcissism include conceit, egoism, self-admiration, self-obsession and vanity as an obvious reoccurring theme.

Destruction focuses on the high-level narcissist, masters of charm and purveyors of magnetism. Meeting one of these individuals is a memorable experience, whether the encounter is positive, negative or somewhere in between. Narcissists beguile and persuade with a special brand of magic.

Destruction arms readers with the knowledge of how to recognise if they are in a relationship with a narcissist and how to determine those red flags immediately. Being oblivious and ignorant of the unconscious motives, psychopathology and causes of the narcissistic personality disorder is dangerous and damaging to those who naively interact with them.

This book supplies readers with the coping tactics to move forward, beyond self-detrimental tendencies and towards a positive future which they can choose friendships and relationships competently.

  • Haven’t we all had one of these in our lives. Luckily once bitten, twice shy.

  • I may have and not even known it but generally this sort of person not only annoys me but I feel embarrassed for them.

  • No never as they’d be too busy looking in the mirror at themselves 😉

  • My mother in law is a narcissist so yes I have been charmed before but I know better now.

  • Unfortunately yes. She wanted my job which I’d had for 30 years. Told my boss’s husband I was stealing so my work was reduced to Saturday afternoon only. Turned out it was his boys that were doing it. New job paid 3 times as much and no stress

  • Oh my gosh, yes. There’s so many out there, especially work boss’. Its hard to pick them but has definitely got easier as I’ve got older

  • Nope.. Or did I .. But don’t mind all the attention..;)

  • No I haven’t personally, but witnessed my my mum going through that as I was growing up. I’m glad she’s finally free.

  • Seduced by his smile, smarts, swagger, hair and humour.
He’d sing to me, recite Banjo Paterson.
Yet selfishly, cruelly, robbed me of health and stability.
    Control, lacking empathy.
Financial, emotional, physical and verbal abuse almost crippled me.
He had me ejected by Police, rendering me homeless.
    Claiming my property- Betrayal.

  • Fooled rather than charmed. I know what they are and want to believe otherwise.

  • Yes, a few of them sadly. Not easy to diagnose them til it’s too late

  • So many narcissists out there, though they never charmed me it would be helpful to read this!

  • Yes my ex partner and father of my daughter belittled me, financially abused me and , i have now had the courage to leave my dv relationship for a better life and would love to read this book!

  • My Dad was one and thus our household was not like a normal childhood so I would like to read up about others’ experiences.

  • Yes my own mother, every single day of my life

  • Yes I have, in fact the narcissist in my life began with someone else, in my family who is female! It’s not always someone in a relationship it can be family too. I’d love to get this book and see the coping strategies in it. Thankyou.

  • Yes some time ago but I was fortunate in becoming aware of this quite early.

  • No but my daughter was for nearly 4 years. The relationship ended very badly. It still takes a toll on our mental health.

  • No I haven’t and ever so grateful that I haven’t been!

  • I feel like I have definitely been charmed by a narcissist but it was not a partner but rather a family member. It took many years to see that the behaviours and things that they did were not normal and that infact everything was not my fault.
