Kate Reddy is back! This is the follow-up to the international bestseller I Don’t Know How She Does It, the novel that defined modern life for women everywhere. This time she’s juggling teenagers, ageing parents and getting back into the workplace, and every page will have you laughing and thinking: It’s not just me.

Kate Reddy is counting down the days until she is fifty, but not in a good way. Fifty, in Kate’s mind, equals invisibility. And with hormones that have her in shackles, teenage children who need her there but won’t talk to her and ailing parents who aren’t coping, Kate is in the middle of a sandwich that she isn’t even allowed to eat because of the calories.

She’s back at work after a big break at home, because somebody has to bring home the bacon now that her husband Rich has dropped out of the rat race to master the art of mindfulness. But just as Kate is finding a few tricks to get by in her new workplace, her old client and flame Jack reappears – complicated doesn’t even begin to cover it.

This is a coming of age story for turning fifty. It’s about so much more than a balancing act; it’s about finding out who you are and what you need to feel alive when you’ve got used to being your own last priority. And every page will leave you feeling that there’s a bit of Kate Reddy in all of us.

  • Oh, wow, there’s so much, the say would just fly by. I think I would like to just wake up on that day and go from there. Just see what the day brings

  • How lovely would a day off be?
Doing things that just suit me!
    In the Gardens sunny heat,
Its peaceful calm would be a treat!
    I’d nap or read, whate’er I please,
    Hammock swaying in the breeze.
All the stress would fade away,
As I while away the day!

  • I would sit down and recline my feet with a nice hot cuppa and read a great fun novel!

  • Book myself into a day spa! I would get myself pampered from head to toe, destress and relax.

  • Oh its hard 2 stepkids in there teenage years and 1 daughter approaching this mile stone, this would be a great read.

  • Wow! Where to start. I would grab a book that I had wanting to read for ages. Take myself and a flask of flavoured tea, some nibbles and a picnic rug and head to my local park. Leaving my mobile at home of course.

  • This book sounds like a great read! For a dream day off I would love to go shopping with some friends, spend some time swimming at the beach then end the day with a massage. Perfect!

  • Go to the shopping centre and have a big coffee without needing to buy a babycino. Walk around the shops without looking at toys. Go and watch a movie without any singing or a cartoon. Sit down and eat a slice of cake all to myself.

  • I like to have a day off and chill,no schedule and doing what makes me happy.

  • I would switch my phone off, turn on my favourite music, have a good soak in the bath, spoil myself with a bit of retail therapy. Sounds like a good day to me

  • If I could have a day off, I would definitely sleep in. Then I would catch up on some reading and enjoy a HOT cup of tea followed by a delicious and nutritious dinner that I didn’t have to share with anyone.

  • go for a walk in nature, listen to the sound of waves, sand between my toes, relax and have some me time, with fresh air on my face.

  • A day off from all that is going on here would be a miracle. firstly think I would go get a mani/pedi and then start to read all the books I have waiting to be read. Lunch would be catered, dinner someone elses worries . The older children could take the younger ones away for the day, oh it would be a delight.
