  • I can’t remember that but I do remember my first day at my new school I had just recovered from measles and my brothers had told everyone all about me and no one wanted to be near me in case I was still sick it was terrible

  • My first day of school, I was terrified and I balled my eyes out but then I calmed down and made some friends. When my mum came to pick me up – I was so happy!

  • My mum just dropped me off and left after some kind words that I’ll have a great day, make some friends and she’ll pick me up when school finishes and i went off looking forward to school and not being scared.

  • Realising that I got to go back for a second day!

  • I was so scared to let go of my mums ha d but once I did there were so many fun new activities that weren’t at home!

  • Walking in with my next door neighbour bestie….mum still talks about it as she was in tears and I had a big cheesey grin. Hehe that was 40 years ago

  • Opening my little school pack which contained pencils and books – the new smell of those pencils and books still fills my senses and fills me with joy!

  • When mum kissed me goodbye, and walked away.
I chased after her, flipping chairs, slamming doors and bawling my eyes out, thinking she was going to leave me forever!

  • My favourite memory of my first day of school was meeting a girl called Sarah. I couldn’t stop talking about her when I got home from school. We have now been best friends since that day; 25 years in total!

  • I had my very own little case. The funny thing is that it was so small my big banana did not fit into it.

  • I remember my mums least favourite memory! Me falling off the monkey bars hitting my head all the way down on the first day and the police somehow being called because I was black and blue and a relief teacher took over at lunch and called them! Lol poor mum

  • Mum dropped my siblings and i at the front of school and my brother carried my bag into my class and introduced me to my teacher and told his friends little brother that he had to be my friend now.

  • I remember sitting on the steps with my oversized bag having my photo taken 🙂

  • Receiving new books, pencils, labelling everything and loving the fact it was mine. I went to school in the 70’s where everything was supplied by the government. We thought it was Christmas all over again as we were from a low income area. So we treasured everything.
