Interactive Language Fun

Join animal friends Turtle, Tiger and Monkey as you explore 100-plus vocabulary words. Touch the pictures on each colourful page to hear the animals say words and share exciting facts and sound effects. Immerse your child in bilingual play by sliding the language switch to hear the words, songs, and instructions in Mandarin Chinese. Touch the pictures to hear silly sound effects in Fun Sounds mode or press the light-up star button to hear two learning songs.

The included 32-page Learning Activity Guide provides parents with hands-on activities and teaching tips to help children get the most enjoyment and learning out of this bilingual book. Using everyday items, parents can help children make connections between the concepts and vocabulary and real-life actions and objects.

What Mums Are Saying

@BowtifulChescaDoll (Mum to Chesca, 2 and Gabby, 6): “It’s great educational material for bilingual children and even parents to learn and recall some of the basic words, phrases and songs in Chinese (Mandarin).  I also highly recommend this for older children who will learn a lot of basic Mandarin words from this book.

“Chesca listened to me as she touched the correct pictures of each corresponding word I asked for in English.  When she switched to Chinese mode, I asked her to touch each picture again and repeat what the book said in Chinese. She did so well in listening to my instructions.  I love how this book keeps her engaged in learning both languages while being attentive!”

@Brayjoe828 (Mum to 4 children): “Dion had so much fun exploring 100 plus vocabulary words in English and Chinese.  I love how with the slide of a button your child can immerse in bilingual play.  This will help them build a strong and solid literacy foundation.”

bilingualkidspot.com: “Kids can either be immersed in bilingual play, or for families with a Chinese and an English-speaking parent, each parent can use the book in their native language.  With Chinese being one of the most spoken languages in the world, it is fast becoming a popular language to learn for English speakers.

“Learning a second language while young is so much easier than learning as an adult, when children are able to distinguish better between sounds and therefore, they are able to imitate and pronounce them more easily.”

For toddlers aged 12 months and over, the 100 Words Book – English-Chinese with Learning Activity Guide is available from Big W.

  • The world.is changing so fast around us, itsbsod different to when i was little. So many different cultures languages in Australia now and id love my kids to experience something different from another country without leaving home

  • I have been eyeing this for a long time as I really want my child to learn chinese as a second language due to her heritage. Also, being able to read and converse in chinese can open up extra doors for her in future.

  • Because I think this would be an advantage to them in later life especially if they wish to continue later on at school another language is an asset to them.

  • I want my son to explore another language so that he can learn to appreciate diversity and love that diversity is intertwined in our Australian way of life!

  • Exposing my daughter to a second language is beneficial a it provides her with a cultural awareness of diverse people and places. Using leap Frog at home as a daily routine will make second languages feel casual and natural, and in no time she will start picking up some of the words and phrases she hears.

  • I married into a bilingual family. And although my husband understands a second language he is not fluent enough to pass that gift on to our children. I would love to be able to give that to them.

  • What a beautiful gift to be able to give your child. Also I’d still love to learn a second language myself so this would be a chance to learn together.

  • Because I’m Czech and my husband Australian. And we speak 2 languages at home to our children.

  • I was never offered the opportunity to learn a second language and I want to give my youngest that chance.

  • Not learning a second lesson is my biggest regret. Being able to communicate fluently with another country opens up their career opportunity like no other. They can move to another country to work, use their skills to teach migrants or travel and feel safe as they can communicate confidently.

  • I think ot is really beneficial for children to learn other languages and their cultures. I would love my kids to have an opportunity i was never given

  • I think it is fantastic for Children to learn another language I’m always telling my Grand children that if they have an opportunity to learn another language to learn a language of their choice

  • My grandson’s mother is Chinese, I know she’d appreciate a book like this to help Isaac learn some Chinese words probably easier in a fun and more pleasurable way that he’d enjoy. He loves books.

  • It would be awesome for my nephew to learn a second language as he is already above average for his age so leap frog would give him that extra push he needs!

  • I want my grandkids to learn a second language because the world is very universal now and they have many friends from different countries, so it would be wonderful to understand each other’s language.

  • Love my daughter to learn a second language to give her opportunities for when she gets older. And also to appreciate other cultures

  • I would love my children to explore a second language for their opportunities it can lead them to in life. I am first generation Australian and unfortunately never learnt the languages of my heritage which I wish I had.

  • Such a useful tool to have in your repertoire. Having a second language really helps open the world up for you, whether its for travel or work, the opportunities are far greater if you have a second language to your belt.

  • Because as we grow older, the world is becoming a smaller place and we are a lot more intermingled so learning a second language will be so useful and great for work opportunities as well as relationships.

  • I want my kids to be able to explore other cultures and develop a curiosity for different people.
