Hello!

We’ve been having issues with our 2 year old fighting naps and bedtime for 6 months now. He learnt how to climb out of his cot and since then we switched to a toddler bed but it’s made things so much worse. He will get up sometimes 10+ times every night and nap. I also have a 3 year old that is difficult as well but she only hops up once or twice. Any tips?

  • This sounds so tricky! We are keeping our 2 year old in ergopouch sleeping bags for as long as he’ll allow it for this reason. Nap time is a battle for us, every so often he fully rebels. We are finding that making him run around and have a good play before nap time really helps. If he’s exhausted he will fall asleep fast. We have a loungey play set for indoor play which is great for before dinner and bath time

  • I am so sorry to hear about your troubles. I don’t have any advice as i think you are doing everything you can. I am not sure what state you live in but is there an organisation that you can reach out to, to discuss this and perhaps have someone come to the house to see how each night is for you and maybe they can offer you some advice?

  • Aw bless, I can understand that this is tiring. My first thought reading your post was that it may be time to drop to drop the naps of your 2 year old as resisting naps, and night time and early waking are clearly signs. I remember I brought dinner time and bed time at that time forward at that made sure they had plenty of activity during the day

  • You must be exhausted. I’d be getting some professional advice & guidance from a centre like Tressilian . They do handle children of all ages, not just newborns and may have some real tips that could help you. Keeping to a routine may help but also wearing them out on a walk of play at the park etc. Good luck.
