A great way to save some money in a cost-of-living crisis whilst also supporting local independent grocers
I have absolutely loved using the new IGA Rewards app. In a cost-of-living crisis it’s important to save money wherever you can.. I love that I can do this at the same time as supporting my local independent grocer. I also found it a great way to try out some new products that I wouldn’t usually try, because the value was just so great.
I found the app very easy and straightforward to use, as well as the process of adding both my rewards card and Visa card to my Apple wallet.
I’m excited for the cashback to arrive in my account, and continue using this app for future grocery shops!

I was excited to be selected for this IGA Rewards review through Mouths of Mums - thanks so much for the opportunity!
With $60 to spend, I headed into my local IGA at Buddina with a list of offers I'd already "hearted" in the app ahead of time, which is a really helpful feature. Being able to browse the Offers section before you leave the house means you can plan your shop, keep an eye out for things relevant to your fam, and make the most of every $.
I'll be honest - a few of the items I'd saved weren't in stock or didn't appear to be stocked at this particular store, which was disappointing. But that's the nature of shopping at smaller local supermarkets, and it didn't put me off the experience. I still came home with a really solid haul!
I picked up BabyLove Nappies Size 2 ($5 cash-back HOW GOOD!), Band-Aid Tough-Strips, Nescafe Gold, Black & Gold Basmati Rice, Sirena Tuna (three tins - a pantry staple!), Western Star Butter, a couple tins of Ardmona Crushed Tomatoes, Community Co Apricot Halves, a Rokeby Farms Protein Smoothie, True Dates Cookie Dough flavoured dates (been wanting to try these for SO long), and a Rexona Men Clinical deodorant for the hubby.
I ended up going a little over and spending an extra $18 of my own money - but honestly, when you're saving on cash-back items, it feels worth it.
The IGA Rewards app is so simple and easy to use, and I genuinely think it's a no-brainer for any regular IGA shopper. Signing up takes minutes, and once you're in, you can scroll through available cash-back deals, heart the ones that suit your family, and head into the store already knowing what to look for.
In this economic climate, saving even a few dollars on your grocery shop is a genuine win - and the IGA Rewards app makes that process completely effortless.
I'll be watching my app for the cash-back to come through, and I'm already eyeing off the next round of offers for my next shop. If you're not already a member, I honestly cannot recommend it enough - it's free, it's easy, and every little saving adds up. Thanks again Mouths of Mums - I love being part of these reviews!

So The iga rewards app means that I can get rewarded for doing my regular shopping haul. There’s inspiration in the app to find products that have extra rewards money back so I loved checking out the weekly specials. I can also change store depending on which area of iga I’m going to !

Although I had a bit of an issue when trying to find my wallet on my phone to find the $60 voucher (amazing staff at my local IGA to the rescue) it was so easy to use and navigate the app. I first went through the cashback items and 'hearted' all the ones that looked good to me.
I then headed in store and got shopping. I was able to get 9 of the 15 items I wanted which I was very happy with. Checkout was easy and friendly and the team asked right away if I have my Rewards Card to scan. I think they love the idea as much as we do.
I have to say the icing on the cake for me was that the items that you can get cashback on were Black and Gold or Community Co items - You didn't have to spend the big bucks to get the rewards.

I am still a bit hesitant when it comes to using an app to buy things or to put my member card on, but IGA makes it so incredibly easy. Everything, from your receipts, to your member card, to your cashback offers is right at your fingertips.
Also the cashback offers is for me the best rewards system on the market at this time.
You get back some serious dollars on your weekly groceries. No hundreds/thousands of dollars to spend to get points to have a measly 10 dollars off your shop... Real, actual savings.
I just did a shop for 59 AUD and have 27 dollars in cashback waiting for me. That is HUGE and goes a long way during these hard times...
Plus, on the app you have the option to tap on the cashback offers and see all of the barcodes for the products you get cash back on and what the limit of products is.
My husband LOVES the Uncle Ben's Rice pouches... So I clicked on the cash back offer to see all of the products I could buy that would earn me some cash back (turns out, nearly all of them, so I saved big and made my other half very happy.. Win win!)
If there is one little thing I would change, is that the cashback gets processed sooner... But that is a minor detail. As long as we get the cashback, we're happy campers!
If you are like me and not good with technology and/or hesitant to use it... Give this app a go. IGA has made it so easy to use AND you earn money while doing your basic weekly grocery shop!

Before heading in I put my IGA card and my IGA Visa card in my Apple Wallet, easy process. Now I also looked at the cash back offers. There were 58, I found the easiest thing to do was put the ones I was interested in on my favourites page. Once in store I had an idea of what I wanted, not all products were in store. The check out process was easy and once back in the car I looked at the app and seen what was tracked. Now just to wait for cash back.

What a fantastic app - so easy to use and actually; a bit of fun to switch up the boring top up shop at the supermarket!
The instructions on the app for how to download your membership card and Visa cards are both easy to understand, the way you gain points is straightforward too. The items for the cash back were really good, items I actually get in my shop - not just random items you don’t use often. I will be using this every time I shop at my local Iga - looking forward to see how much I can save and how much money I get back.

I recently had the opportunity to try out the IGA App (which I had already been a regular user of!) after receiving a $60 IGA Visa gift card from Mouths of Mums. I didn't realise it was an option to add the membership card and the visa gift card to my google wallet, but it was very easy to do!
Before going into my local store I opened the app to see what the cashback offers were. They had a little love heart next to them for me to 'favourite' which meant it was easier for me to get around the store for what I needed.
The best deal that I found on the app was $5 cashback when purchasing two tomato sauces. The total price of the tomato sauces was $5, so they were ‘free’.
It was a seamless process at the register, I won’t lie, I was nervous that the cards wouldn’t work in my google wallett, but they did. Now I just have to wait for the cash back to process.
I think the IGA app is great, I know now I will be checking it more regularly for the cashback deals.

I really enjoyed having the privilege to try the IGA rewards app out with the $60 voucher. I managed to get a few of the items that included cashback.
I loved how simple it was to use and how awesome the staff were when needing assistance.
I went to my closest which was Kincumber which unfortunately didn’t have to much stock compared to usual so only managed to get the dogs and cat food which was a HUGE bonus as you’d know sometimes pet food is super expensive but they had my pets favourite in the cashback which was awesome! I even got them some treats!
I then went to another local which was East Gosford as I needed to go that direction to pick something up so though why not quickly stop in and see what they had too! I managed to get some tinned tomato’s, coffee and a loaf of sourdough. That was my breakfast sorted then! I was so excited! The sourdough was out of this world FYI!!!
I really loved how they had home brands aswell as popular brands so it helps everyone!
I’d definitely recommend joining even if it’s not somewhere you usually show, just go on the rewards app once a week and see if there’s anything you’d usually get, and depending on cashback compare it to Coles or Woolworths and then add the cashback for another trip especially with the cost of living currently! I’ll be definitely looking and going to get a few deals more often!!

I had a really easy experience downloading the IGA app at home and adding my rewards card to my wallet, which made things super convenient at the checkout. One feature I really liked was being able to browse cashback offers and “heart” them to save as favourites. There were some great deals too—like $2 cashback on an Uncle Ben’s Rice pouches ($2.50), with the option to buy up to 10.
Unfortunately, when I went into the store the next day, that offer and a few others had disappeared from my favourites, even though they were listed as not expiring until that day. That was quite disappointing if I’m honest. Also, a few items I had planned to buy weren’t stocked in that particular store, which I understand is part of shopping at an independent grocer.
That said, I still managed to pick up some good offers along with the things we needed at home. I’ve already checked the app for this week’s new deals and am keen to give it another go—there are some really appealing cashback offers on products we regularly use.
My only other minor gripe is that the cashback takes a few days to appear in your account. Overall though, I enjoyed the experience and liked shopping at IGA as an alternative to my usual supermarkets. I’ll definitely be back to check out more cashback deals soon.

How fantastic is this rewards system for IGA! The app is so easy to use. I love that I can just open it up, see all the cash back items before or while I do my shopping as well as specials, deals, and the competitions too!
Cash back adds up quicker than I expected and once it reaches $20 I can use it straight on my shopping. It definitely gives me more incentive to shop at IGA more often.

I was delighted to receive my rewards via the IGA app, I found it very easy to use. I love that you can view the catalogue online before you go into store & also see offers & rewards in your app also.
Whilst in store I noticed there were Amal baskets, trolleys & smaller carry baskets to use. Shelves were full & the variety was just as good as the larger chain stores.
I was able to purchase everything I needed. The staff were very friendly & Il be visiting more often going forward.
Prices were reasonable & items were easily located. A great place to shop!

I recently tried the IGA Rewards App after being given $60 IGA Cash Back to test out the rewards system and overall it was a positive experience with a small downside.
The app itself is really easy to download and set up and I liked how the personalised cash back offers were clearly laid out. Scanning the rewards card at checkout was simple and the process of earning and using the cash back felt straightforward and convenient. When I used the credit on my regular shop it applied smoothly without any issues which made the whole experience feel worthwhile.
The only downside for me was that the specific products I had added to my list for extra cash back were unfortunately out of stock at my local store. I suspect this may be because it’s a smaller IGA so the range was a bit more limited. It was a little disappointing not being able to fully take advantage of those extra offers.
That said I still found the app useful and easy to use. I would definitely keep using it for future shops especially to take advantage of cash back when the items are available.

This app is pretty good! I love how you can easily see what’s on special and save the items easily so when you visit your preferred store you can remember what you are after! The only thing when I downloaded the card from the app it didn’t work at the registers. I had to go into the app itself to use the card. Not sure if this was a glitch or something? Otherwise very straight forward 😊

With the cost of living going up I I wish I knew I could earn cash back on my normal grocery shops. Most of the items that I could get cash back on were items I would usually buy. Most were easily available and of good quality. I love shopping at my local IGA and found this program truely worthwhile

I was one of the first to sign up to IGA rewards at my local store. From day 1 I have been saving with cashback with my everyday grocery shopping.
It is amazing way to give back to the community, save for something special or just reduce your weekly grocery bill with the funds accumulated.
I love checking and saving all the items that I can get cashback with, and its given me more reason to shop at IGA than ever before. With fresh produce, friendly staff and amazing offers!
The offers get updated so always something new to try or buy.

I really like the IGA rewards App for a number of reasons
No more paper receipts they are all stored in the App
I can earn real money back when I buy from My Offers products from a few cents to dollars and even a percentage of cost of item. Then when I have earned $20 it goes automatically onto my IGA Rewards VISA. Very easy to use

I just completed my first shop using the IGA Rewards app and I’m seriously impressed!
The range of cash back offers is huge and actually covers products I want to buy, not just random items.
It’s so satisfying seeing the cash back build up in the app rather than just collecting points that take forever to use. The app is super user-friendly and makes planning the grocery run much easier.
Highly recommend for any regular IGA shopper!

The IGA App is easy to use and straightforward to set up. Adding both the membership card and cash card to the wallet is quick and hassle-free.
The offers are varied and cover a wide range of everyday items, which makes them genuinely useful. Adding products to your favourites list is simple and helps keep track of what you’re interested in buying. It’s also handy that you can scan or select product barcodes to see which varieties are included in an offer.
I like that receipts are stored in the app for easy access, although it would be better if there was an option to export them when needed.
Rewards appear as pending in the cashback tab and take a few days to clear, which is something to be aware of. I’ve also noticed one item hasn’t shown up under cashback yet, but this may just be a timing delay.
Overall, a solid app with useful features and a few small areas for improvement.

I like the layout of the app, it’s pretty straight forward and intuitive. I like that it uses Apple Pay and has a digital rewards card but it is a shame that most stores don’t actually seem to be able to accomodate the digital card function. Seems silly to initiate a system that most stores can’t support.

This definitely took a bit longer at my normal shop as I was combing up and down the aisles looking for the various items. Most of them weren't in stock at my little local IGA, this would be more valuable for me at the bigger one a little further away. The user interface is a little confusing, only worked out once I got home how to add my card so I could use my cash back and debit card in one transaction. The shop didn't have a handheld scanner so I had to pass my phone to the cashier which was weird and then he had to enter it manually anyway. Waiting a few days for the cash back is a bit tedious but well worth it! Can see $2 back on a $4 item, definitely worth doing in these times!

‘Trust Your Intuition’: How To Advocate For Your Child In Hospital
Mother’s instinct is a funny thing. At home, we trust it without question. But put us in a hospital setting with an unwell child, surrounded by doctors, nurses and monitors, and suddenly we start doubting ourselves.
What if I’m overreacting? What if I’ve got it wrong?
So we stay quiet, even when we know something just isn’t right with our child. I’ve been there myself – when my usually ‘tough’ son was doubled over with stomach pain. I was told in the emergency department that it probably wasn’t his appendix. But I knew he wouldn’t have begged me to take him to hospital unless it was serious. Because I know him better than anyone. Turns out, it was appendicitis.
It’s a really common place for parents to land. You’re grateful for the care your child is getting, but at the same time, you feel this huge responsibility to speak up if something doesn’t feel right.
Here’s the thing though: that instinct you’re feeling? It matters more than you might think.
Why your gut feeling matters more than you realise
According to Paediatric Nurse Unit Manager, Canterbury Hospital, Leticia Jackson, parents bring something to the hospital that no test or machine ever could.
“Parents often say they ‘just know’ when something isn’t quite right with their child, and in a hospital, that gut feeling is incredibly valuable,” she explains.
Leticia Jackson, Paediatric Nurse Unit Manager, Canterbury Hospital
While medical teams rely on observations, tests and equipment, parents know the little details. The way your child usually smiles. How they react when they’re tired. What’s normal for them.
So when something feels “off”, even if everything looks okay on paper, it can actually be an early warning sign.
“When parents trust those instincts and speak up, this creates a powerful partnership that can sometimes catch a problem before it becomes an emergency,” Leticia says.
Worried about speaking up? You’re not alone
A lot of parents hesitate about advocating for their child.
You don’t want to come across as difficult. You don’t want to question the people caring for your child. And sometimes, you just don’t feel confident enough to push the issue.
Leticia gets it.
“It is completely understandable for parents to feel hesitant,” she says. “No one wants to be seen as difficult or to second-guess the hardworking people caring for their child.”
But here’s a helpful way to look at it: you’re not challenging the medical team, you’re helping them.
Parents are the constant. Staff change shifts, care for multiple patients, and rely on snapshots of information. You’re there the whole time, noticing the subtle changes.
“Our medical team doesn’t view a concerned parent as overreactive, but as a partner,” Leticia explains. “Your voice matters.”
Remember, we know our children better than anyone.
What to do if you’re worried: the Raise It process
If you’re in a NSW public hospital or health service and you’re worried about you or your child’s condition getting worse, there is a clear process you can follow called Raise It.
Raise It is designed to help patients, carers and family members get help fast if they’re worried about a change in their loved one’s condition.
Here’s how it works:
Talk: Start by speaking to a nurse, midwife, doctor or health worker about your concerns.
Ask: Still worried? Ask to speak to the nurse or midwife in charge and request a Clinical Review.
Call: If you’re still concerned, you can escalate further using the Raise It process to get urgent attention from a senior health worker.
You don’t need medical knowledge. You don’t need to be certain. If you feel something isn’t right, or your child is getting worse, Raise It. You just need to speak up.
What should you actually look out for?
Sometimes it’s not one big, obvious sign. It can be small, subtle changes that just don’t sit right.
Things like:
Changes in breathing (fast, laboured or noisy)
Skin looking pale, mottled, or developing unusual rashes
Your child being unusually drowsy, floppy, or hard to wake
Confusion or behaviour that’s out of character
Pain that isn’t improving with treatment
Or simply that feeling that your child is getting worse
And sometimes, it’s just that gut feeling you can’t explain.
That’s enough.
“You are helping us, not bothering us”
If there’s one message Leticia wants parents to take away, it’s that you aren’t bothering the medical team, you’re helping them.
“In my years as a Nurse Unit Manager, I can say with absolute certainty that many critical changes in a child’s condition have been identified first by a parent. While our clinical staff are highly skilled at performing regular observations and interpreting data, parents are the only constant presence who truly know their child’s baseline behaviour, personality, and what is normal for them.
“I have seen numerous instances where a parent’s insistence that their child is “just not themselves” – despite vital signs appearing relatively stable – has prompted a deeper clinical review that uncovered everything from early signs of sepsis to a life-threatening respiratory crisis.”
The Raise It process exists because healthcare teams know how important parents are in keeping children safe.
“Speaking up doesn’t mean you don’t trust the team,” she says. “It means you’re partnering with us to make sure nothing gets missed.”
And if you’re still worried about being judged?
“Whether your concern turns out to be something or nothing, your instinct to raise it is always valid.”
I have learned many times to always listen to your gut and speak up when you don’t think something is right. This article was a great read, our kids are our world and if we don’t feel they are getting the right help, and we feel it, we need to speak up.
You should never second guess yourself when it comes to yours or your childs health- or anyones for that matter. Go with your thoughts. It is natural to want to protect a loved one especially when it comes to health situations, and the feeling you get when you think you didnt do enough to advocate or fight for them…it is not a kind or nice way to feel. Many people have ended up being heartbroken and picking up pieces for years because of feeling they didnt do enough.
A very good and informative article. I have read so many stories about mums just knowing when things are not right and demanding second and third opinions until they got the right answer. Sometimes mums just know. It is our job as care takers of our families. Listen to your gut!
Years ago, I spoke up for my 14-year-old daughter, but my concerns weren’t fully listened to. I’ve always wished I had pushed harder. She was sent home without much testing, and two days later, she passed away.
So, if you ever have concerns—no matter how minor—please speak up and keep advocating. Trust your instincts; they are there for a reason.
This is so important for parents to know how to raise it further if they don’t think their child is receiving the medical support they need! I know this article refers to the NSW system but other systems have similar procedures just with different names. I know in QLD it’s called Ryan’s Rule.
It’s so important to follow your gut instincts and express your concerns indeed. I have never hesitated to advocate for my children in various situations and I don’t care what other people think about it. Not all doctors and medical staff appreciate it when you question them, I’ve experienced that it may result in angry indignant responses.
How true this is! While nurses and doctors are the medical professionals doing their job on the daily, we know our children better than anyone and what is ‘normal’ for them. I would always speak up if I had noticed any changes in my child’s health and encourage other parents to do so too. No question is silly!
This really is such an important issue and a good topic to discuss with people, I am often surprised that people are worried about being judged. This is not something I care about; the priority is for the care and health of everyone is my family. Parents know their children and need to work with health professionals for the best outcomes for their children.
This is such an important issue to raise, and no one should ever feel ashamed, nervous or that they are being OTT for advocating for their kids, themselves or loves ones in hospital. In QLD we have Ryan’s Rule. A three step process where your concern will be escalated if they believe the patients condition isn’t improving or is worsening.
I have never been afraid to advocate for my children and partner and extended family and also friends. It is so important to listen and to trust intuition. When people have not listened, I have persevered and kept on with insisting on care and making sure they truly listened and took action.

Iga rewards me
6:10 pm
That was better than I expected
I then headed in store and got shopping. I was able to get 9 of the 15 items I wanted which I was very happy with. Checkout was easy and friendly and the team asked right away if I have my Rewards Card to scan. I think they love the idea as much as we do.
I have to say the icing on the cake for me was that the items that you can get cashback on were Black and Gold or Community Co items - You didn't have to spend the big bucks to get the rewards.

Great cashback offers, great app!

Who doesn’t love points and cash back!?
The instructions on the app for how to download your membership card and Visa cards are both easy to understand, the way you gain points is straightforward too. The items for the cash back were really good, items I actually get in my shop - not just random items you don’t use often. I will be using this every time I shop at my local Iga - looking forward to see how much I can save and how much money I get back.

I love the IGA app so much!!
2:29 pm
Effortless and User Friednly!

So easy to use!
The payment being able to be added to apply pay makes it a really easy way to redeem your cash!
It really incentivises you to try new products, highly recommend!

Such an amazing idea!

Great cashback deals… when they are available 🛒

Iga Rewards is fantastic
Cash back adds up quicker than I expected and once it reaches $20 I can use it straight on my shopping. It definitely gives me more incentive to shop at IGA more often.
11:44 am
Easy to use app & a great place to shop!

Love the concept!

Love the fact I can earn whilst I shop!
9:25 pm
I wish I knew about this earlier

Finally shopping that gives BACK
It is amazing way to give back to the community, save for something special or just reduce your weekly grocery bill with the funds accumulated.
I love checking and saving all the items that I can get cashback with, and its given me more reason to shop at IGA than ever before. With fresh produce, friendly staff and amazing offers!
The offers get updated so always something new to try or buy.
5:33 pm
Easy to use
Sadly most of the cashback specials were not available at my local store.

IGA Rewards App
No more paper receipts they are all stored in the App
I can earn real money back when I buy from My Offers products from a few cents to dollars and even a percentage of cost of item. Then when I have earned $20 it goes automatically onto my IGA Rewards VISA. Very easy to use

Highly recommend!
8:47 pm
Simple to use with some great rewards

Effortless cash back haul
With $60 to spend, I headed into my local IGA at Buddina with a list of offers I'd already "hearted" in the app ahead of time, which is a really helpful feature. Being able to browse the Offers section before you leave the house means you can plan your shop, keep an eye out for things relevant to your fam, and make the most of every $.

I ended up going a little over and spending an extra $18 of my own money - but honestly, when you're saving on cash-back items, it feels worth it.
