I am still a bit hesitant when it comes to using an app to buy things or to put my member card on, but IGA makes it so incredibly easy. Everything, from your receipts, to your member card, to your cashback offers is right at your fingertips.
Also the cashback offers is for me the best rewards system on the market at this time.
You get back some serious dollars on your weekly groceries. No hundreds/thousands of dollars to spend to get points to have a measly 10 dollars off your shop... Real, actual savings.
I just did a shop for 59 AUD and have 27 dollars in cashback waiting for me. That is HUGE and goes a long way during these hard times...
Plus, on the app you have the option to tap on the cashback offers and see all of the barcodes for the products you get cash back on and what the limit of products is.
My husband LOVES the Uncle Ben's Rice pouches... So I clicked on the cash back offer to see all of the products I could buy that would earn me some cash back (turns out, nearly all of them, so I saved big and made my other half very happy.. Win win!)
If there is one little thing I would change, is that the cashback gets processed sooner... But that is a minor detail. As long as we get the cashback, we're happy campers!
If you are like me and not good with technology and/or hesitant to use it... Give this app a go. IGA has made it so easy to use AND you earn money while doing your basic weekly grocery shop!

I also loved the option to favourite items so i can tick them off the list as i find them around the shop.
i love that the rewards don’t require a secondary app so it’s all together in one too!

The IGA Rewards app has some great potential and offers a nice way to earn cashback on everyday shopping. I like the idea of personalised offers and saving items ahead of time, which helps with planning. With a few improvements—like making saved items easier to find, clearer in-store visibility, and more consistent pricing and availability—it could be even more convenient to use. Overall, it’s a promising app that could become a really valuable way to save.

Although I had a bit of an issue when trying to find my wallet on my phone to find the $60 voucher (amazing staff at my local IGA to the rescue) it was so easy to use and navigate the app. I first went through the cashback items and 'hearted' all the ones that looked good to me.
I then headed in store and got shopping. I was able to get 9 of the 15 items I wanted which I was very happy with. Checkout was easy and friendly and the team asked right away if I have my Rewards Card to scan. I think they love the idea as much as we do.
I have to say the icing on the cake for me was that the items that you can get cashback on were Black and Gold or Community Co items - You didn't have to spend the big bucks to get the rewards.

I went into iga today to use my iga cash back card to do a small shop, finding my cash back offers on the app was nice and simple. Even better the check out experience was even simpler. Just scan my rewards card and tap to pay with my iga Visa card and that's it! The staff were lovely and the whole experience was quick and simple.

I tried the IGA Rewards app for the first time today and it was a great experience. The app is easy to use, and the cashback offers are a really nice bonus. I even got some back on my Pane Di Casa (fancy bread win!).
I added both my membership card and cash card to my wallet, which made checkout quick and easy. Getting cashback on everyday groceries just makes shopping feel a bit more fun.
I also really enjoyed the service. The staff were friendly and packed my bags for me, which made the whole experience fab!
One small downside was that not all the cashback items were in stock at my local IGA, so it’d be great to see more options available in-store.

I really enjoyed doing this shop at IGA. Was alot of offers that suited my needs in the app. I'm a regular customer so it was easy to navigate the app, IGA gift card in my wallet made it so easy. There was some items which weren't available at my local, but ai still managed to get some cashback into my IGA account to spend at a later date. Some prices on the app stated "from" so had to check in store prices to see if it was worth the purchase with the cashback offer. Overall was a great way to shop.

IGA App is good to have everything on one place. Especially the cashback items show in the front page which is easy for me to select those items & earn as much as cash back. It will be even more better if online shopping & click collect option introduce in the app. Otherwise good to have this app if do regular shopping at IGA. I recommend this application.

Before I went in store, I favourited items from my offers that give cashback so I could easily refer to this in store. I like how you could click on the item in the app and it showed you all the varients that were eligible and even the barcode. My app did not have the price for any item however and said to check in store which was frustrating as it would help with my shopping list. While I had 58 offers, many of them were not items I would ever buy (I had a lot of pet offers and I don't have a pet), so I would like to see more variety, particularly more health conscious items and fresh produce, meat, dairy etc.
I used a self-serve checkout at my store, and adding the rewards card was easy though I was slightly unsure at first if it worked but then noticed it had my name on the screen. When I went to pay with the card I had some difficulty as my total was slightly over the amount of IGA cash I had, and there was no option to do a part payment so it just declined. I ended up having to link my credit card in the IGA app so it could then charge me the excess, but I would have preferred to pay this directly at the checkout. I also have an IGA giftcard already but there seemed to be no way to pay with part IGA cash and part giftcard.
I can see in my app a few hours later how much cash I have pending but it is not yet confirmed which is expected to take 48 hours, but I was pleased to see $16.60 for a $62 spend, and not even all items were cashback items. Some items were on special so they had a really great cashback percentage, so can definitely see this being a great app to use if you shop strategically. There is a minimum of $20 earnt required before you can use it which I find frustrating as I would rather have access to it at any amount.
From what I have seen in other reveiews, I believe the cashback items are the same for everyone so it would be great if they were highlighted in the store (for example, a different colour price tag) as it is really inefficient to be going through the app, and ended up with me walking around the store a lot more than I needed to. I would also be likely to grab extra items I notice on my way around if they were identified.
Overall I loved the concept and for the first iteration it works well but it could have some improvements done to make it much more user friendly.

It was easy to log into my rewards app and see that I had $60 loaded ready to spend. I was able to easily add the rewards card and the gift card to my wallet to use at the checkout.
I like the cash back perks. Unfortunately some of the products with cashback were not available to purchase during my shop.
At the check out, I was easily able to scan my iga rewards card to make sure I get the cashback. Overall a very easy process and one that will save me money in the long run.

I had set up the IGA Rewards app ready to go and had saved the cashback items. I was keen to purchase in store at my local IGA. However, there is no way on the app to really tell what items you’ve saved and you have to constantly scroll through the specials and offers to find the ones that you had previously saved. The prices were also inconsistent so it would say on the app from XXX and then you would go in store and it would be significantly more money than that negating the cashback as being not good value.
The other issue I had was availability even though you went to the effort of putting in the store that you wish to shop at, a lot of the time the items that you had saved for the cashback weren’t available in store so I am unsure why you would bother saving a particular store if they don’t have any stock.
There was also no way in store to tell which items we’re going to give you cash back money and it was only through double checking multiple times on the app to see what would be available for cashback to confirm that you would actually get some money back.
I think that just a member’s discount of the price of an item would be a better way to save money rather than having to use the cashback because you don’t get the money back immediately and you were paying a higher price and then you have to wait for this item to be deposited into your cashback account.

I had a really enjoyable shopping experience. The app was easy to use and the staff were fantastic. There weren’t many cashback offers for my usual items yet, however I’m hoping that improves now I’ve shopped there using the app. I stocked up on staples for the school holidays and my youngest loved helping and recognising the ingredients we use at home.
Just need to make sure you're shopping for the offer to get that IGA cash back and have the card linked to your wallet! Was a wonderful afternoon making cookies, muffins & healthy carrot cake, can't wait to jump on and review the other items i got today!

Before heading in I put my IGA card and my IGA Visa card in my Apple Wallet, easy process. Now I also looked at the cash back offers. There were 58, I found the easiest thing to do was put the ones I was interested in on my favourites page. Once in store I had an idea of what I wanted, not all products were in store. The check out process was easy and once back in the car I looked at the app and seen what was tracked. Now just to wait for cash back.

‘Trust Your Intuition’: How To Advocate For Your Child In Hospital
Mother’s instinct is a funny thing. At home, we trust it without question. But put us in a hospital setting with an unwell child, surrounded by doctors, nurses and monitors, and suddenly we start doubting ourselves.
What if I’m overreacting? What if I’ve got it wrong?
So we stay quiet, even when we know something just isn’t right with our child. I’ve been there myself – when my usually ‘tough’ son was doubled over with stomach pain. I was told in the emergency department that it probably wasn’t his appendix. But I knew he wouldn’t have begged me to take him to hospital unless it was serious. Because I know him better than anyone. Turns out, it was appendicitis.
It’s a really common place for parents to land. You’re grateful for the care your child is getting, but at the same time, you feel this huge responsibility to speak up if something doesn’t feel right.
Here’s the thing though: that instinct you’re feeling? It matters more than you might think.
Why your gut feeling matters more than you realise
According to Paediatric Nurse Unit Manager, Canterbury Hospital, Leticia Jackson, parents bring something to the hospital that no test or machine ever could.
“Parents often say they ‘just know’ when something isn’t quite right with their child, and in a hospital, that gut feeling is incredibly valuable,” she explains.
Leticia Jackson, Paediatric Nurse Unit Manager, Canterbury Hospital
While medical teams rely on observations, tests and equipment, parents know the little details. The way your child usually smiles. How they react when they’re tired. What’s normal for them.
So when something feels “off”, even if everything looks okay on paper, it can actually be an early warning sign.
“When parents trust those instincts and speak up, this creates a powerful partnership that can sometimes catch a problem before it becomes an emergency,” Leticia says.
Worried about speaking up? You’re not alone
A lot of parents hesitate about advocating for their child.
You don’t want to come across as difficult. You don’t want to question the people caring for your child. And sometimes, you just don’t feel confident enough to push the issue.
Leticia gets it.
“It is completely understandable for parents to feel hesitant,” she says. “No one wants to be seen as difficult or to second-guess the hardworking people caring for their child.”
But here’s a helpful way to look at it: you’re not challenging the medical team, you’re helping them.
Parents are the constant. Staff change shifts, care for multiple patients, and rely on snapshots of information. You’re there the whole time, noticing the subtle changes.
“Our medical team doesn’t view a concerned parent as overreactive, but as a partner,” Leticia explains. “Your voice matters.”
Remember, we know our children better than anyone.
What to do if you’re worried: the Raise It process
If you’re in a NSW public hospital or health service and you’re worried about you or your child’s condition getting worse, there is a clear process you can follow called Raise It.
Raise It is designed to help patients, carers and family members get help fast if they’re worried about a change in their loved one’s condition.
Here’s how it works:
Talk: Start by speaking to a nurse, midwife, doctor or health worker about your concerns.
Ask: Still worried? Ask to speak to the nurse or midwife in charge and request a Clinical Review.
Call: If you’re still concerned, you can escalate further using the Raise It process to get urgent attention from a senior health worker.
You don’t need medical knowledge. You don’t need to be certain. If you feel something isn’t right, or your child is getting worse, Raise It. You just need to speak up.
What should you actually look out for?
Sometimes it’s not one big, obvious sign. It can be small, subtle changes that just don’t sit right.
Things like:
Changes in breathing (fast, laboured or noisy)
Skin looking pale, mottled, or developing unusual rashes
Your child being unusually drowsy, floppy, or hard to wake
Confusion or behaviour that’s out of character
Pain that isn’t improving with treatment
Or simply that feeling that your child is getting worse
And sometimes, it’s just that gut feeling you can’t explain.
That’s enough.
“You are helping us, not bothering us”
If there’s one message Leticia wants parents to take away, it’s that you aren’t bothering the medical team, you’re helping them.
“In my years as a Nurse Unit Manager, I can say with absolute certainty that many critical changes in a child’s condition have been identified first by a parent. While our clinical staff are highly skilled at performing regular observations and interpreting data, parents are the only constant presence who truly know their child’s baseline behaviour, personality, and what is normal for them.
“I have seen numerous instances where a parent’s insistence that their child is “just not themselves” – despite vital signs appearing relatively stable – has prompted a deeper clinical review that uncovered everything from early signs of sepsis to a life-threatening respiratory crisis.”
The Raise It process exists because healthcare teams know how important parents are in keeping children safe.
“Speaking up doesn’t mean you don’t trust the team,” she says. “It means you’re partnering with us to make sure nothing gets missed.”
And if you’re still worried about being judged?
“Whether your concern turns out to be something or nothing, your instinct to raise it is always valid.”
You should never second guess yourself when it comes to yours or your childs health- or anyones for that matter. Go with your thoughts. It is natural to want to protect a loved one especially when it comes to health situations, and the feeling you get when you think you didnt do enough to advocate or fight for them…it is not a kind or nice way to feel. Many people have ended up being heartbroken and picking up pieces for years because of feeling they didnt do enough.
A very good and informative article. I have read so many stories about mums just knowing when things are not right and demanding second and third opinions until they got the right answer. Sometimes mums just know. It is our job as care takers of our families. Listen to your gut!
Years ago, I spoke up for my 14-year-old daughter, but my concerns weren’t fully listened to. I’ve always wished I had pushed harder. She was sent home without much testing, and two days later, she passed away.
So, if you ever have concerns—no matter how minor—please speak up and keep advocating. Trust your instincts; they are there for a reason.
This is so important for parents to know how to raise it further if they don’t think their child is receiving the medical support they need! I know this article refers to the NSW system but other systems have similar procedures just with different names. I know in QLD it’s called Ryan’s Rule.
It’s so important to follow your gut instincts and express your concerns indeed. I have never hesitated to advocate for my children in various situations and I don’t care what other people think about it. Not all doctors and medical staff appreciate it when you question them, I’ve experienced that it may result in angry indignant responses.
How true this is! While nurses and doctors are the medical professionals doing their job on the daily, we know our children better than anyone and what is ‘normal’ for them. I would always speak up if I had noticed any changes in my child’s health and encourage other parents to do so too. No question is silly!
This really is such an important issue and a good topic to discuss with people, I am often surprised that people are worried about being judged. This is not something I care about; the priority is for the care and health of everyone is my family. Parents know their children and need to work with health professionals for the best outcomes for their children.
This is such an important issue to raise, and no one should ever feel ashamed, nervous or that they are being OTT for advocating for their kids, themselves or loves ones in hospital. In QLD we have Ryan’s Rule. A three step process where your concern will be escalated if they believe the patients condition isn’t improving or is worsening.
I have never been afraid to advocate for my children and partner and extended family and also friends. It is so important to listen and to trust intuition. When people have not listened, I have persevered and kept on with insisting on care and making sure they truly listened and took action.

So user friendly and great incentives!
The app was simple and user friendly but also engaging with bright colours and photos of products. There were clear prices and discounts.
I also loved the option to favourite items so i can tick them off the list as i find them around the shop.
i love that the rewards don’t require a secondary app so it’s all together in one too!

Lots of cash back on offer!
I was surprised at the amount of cash back offers available and the wide variety of categories.
Unfortunately my local IGA is small, so a lot of the items weren’t available, but I will definitely be keeping my eye out on my next shop.

Who doesn’t love points and cash back!?
The instructions on the app for how to download your membership card and Visa cards are both easy to understand, the way you gain points is straightforward too. The items for the cash back were really good, items I actually get in my shop - not just random items you don’t use often. I will be using this every time I shop at my local Iga - looking forward to see how much I can save and how much money I get back.

A great way to save some money in a cost-of-living crisis whilst also supporting local independent grocers
I found the app very easy and straightforward to use, as well as the process of adding both my rewards card and Visa card to my Apple wallet.
I’m excited for the cashback to arrive in my account, and continue using this app for future grocery shops!

Nice Way to Score Cash

Easy to use
I like the cash back perks. Unfortunately some of the products with cashback were not available to purchase during my shop.
At the check out, I was easily able to scan my iga rewards card to make sure I get the cashback. Overall a very easy process and one that will save me money in the long run.

Good in theory but takes a lot of time to use

Bit of a slow go but worth it
Will definitely use this more often

What a great experience!
Just need to make sure you're shopping for the offer to get that IGA cash back and have the card linked to your wallet! Was a wonderful afternoon making cookies, muffins & healthy carrot cake, can't wait to jump on and review the other items i got today!
6:10 pm
That was better than I expected
I then headed in store and got shopping. I was able to get 9 of the 15 items I wanted which I was very happy with. Checkout was easy and friendly and the team asked right away if I have my Rewards Card to scan. I think they love the idea as much as we do.
I have to say the icing on the cake for me was that the items that you can get cashback on were Black and Gold or Community Co items - You didn't have to spend the big bucks to get the rewards.
