Hello!

Hi Mums, it’s voting day today in QLD and I went to remind my husband and then he tells me that his Mum did his vote for him (postal vote) and he doesn’t even know who she those for him. I’m livid that a 42 year old Man cannot vote for himself and we’ve only been together for 4 years so this hasn’t come up before. I’ve been going on about voting for weeks and he never mentioned it. I also thought it was illegal to vote for someone else.

  • This just shows you that he’s still a “mummy’s boy”. Fancy getting your mother to vote for you which is illegal and then not even knowing or caring who he voted for. I bet he whinges though about certain government policies and cost of living etc. How does he know that his vote could be the one that swings the vote to a party he hates. He’s just plain lazy and I’m sad for you.42yr old baby.

  • I really wouldn’t get involved myself, up to him and mum what they do. Just do you boo.

  • Wow! Ridiculous that there are two of them that think this is OK. Time to man up and for Mummy to let go.

  • Yep, it’s illegal. It’s also incredibly irresponsible, and how infantile is he that he can’t do it himself?

  • Also; information on voting and elections can be found on the election website. The election website has a wealth information about voting, the process, responsibilities, rules and of course information on the candidates. It is always a good idea to flag the website with people that want or might need a reminder about voting.

  • Fancy a 42 year old person allowing someone else to vote on his behalf. You are correct, it is illegal for someone else to make a vote, that is not in their own name, surely your husband and mother in law both know that, one day they may get busted, and serve themselves right for any fine that may be thrown their way. Secondly, you have every right to be upset about this, I know I would be. Sad that some people just don’t care about our election system. I’d suggest to him, to step up, and make his own vote, in the upcoming Federal election, which will be held anytime up until May next year.

  • We are very fortunate to live in a democracy where everyone has the right to vote. It is so very important to be well informed about politics and potential candidates and to individually vote. I believe it is an act fraud to vote for anyone else or to vote multiple times in an election.

  • Voting is indeed a personal choice that reflects an individual’s beliefs, values, and priorities. Each person’s vote is a way to express their opinion on issues that matter to them, shaping the future of their community and country. It’s important to respect and recognize that everyone has the right to their own preferences in the democratic process.

  • Everyone is different. Not everyone is passionate about politics and voting and there are many people who do not truly know where they are voting for. Other people are too passionate about politics and voting and can’t stop talking about it. Try to respect each others differences, even on moments that you are upset

  • Yeah honestly, you’re so valid for being upset. He is a grown man who should be able to not only communicate with you but vote by himself. Voting is not a new concept so this is crazy. I get speaking about who you would want to rank what but he should be having those conversations with YOU, his WIFE.

  • I would be upset too, he is 42 years old and to me that is being pure lazy and not caring about his future and what government would be right for QLD. Some people don’t care about politics and that is fine but why wouldn’t you want to voice your opinion on matters like this?

  • Absolutely not wrong for feeling upset! It is 100% illegal to do what your partner and his mother have done. It’s actually fraudulent. Not only that, if everyone didn’t think for themselves with things like voting, where would our Government be? I mean, I’m not really interested in politics at all but I still want to have my say.
If you were so inclined, you could actually report him.

  • Its definitely illegal to have someone else vote for you. Why didn’t he organised his own postal vote, it was easy peasy and arrived with plenty of time. I’d be frustrated because this election has unfortunate results (imo; women and the environment deserve better than what we’re going to see). Did he say why he didn’t do it himself?
