Hello!

We have baby #3 due this year and want to look at getting a bigger, family orientated car as my Mazda 6 only fits 2 seats, so I’m after recommendations of what cars people use with 3 kids? I’m after plenty of boot space, I don’t like seats in the very rear of the car that can be dangerous in an accident.

Also what double prams do people recommend that my toddler and baby #3 will be able to use?

  • Thank you for the recommendations guys!

  • We had a Ford Territory which fitted our three kids comfortablely in the back & had a huge boot. This year we upgraded as we needed a seven seater so we bought a Nissan Pathfinder. So roomy for all four kids plus the boot is large.

  • I have a kia sorrento and love it! No kids in the back row yet but figure when we have school friends to drop home etc that will be handy. Also a strider pram. Side by side is silly with a toddler because you wont need it “forever” you can use a skaterboard attachment or second seat

  • Depending how big u want to go with car? We have 2 kids and the third being planned and hope for a total for 4 so we wanted a 7 seater. We got the Ssangyong static and love it. We did have to put extra anchor points in but that wasn’t too exoensive. Great car, lots of room and easy to acces the kids in both rows.

  • I love my Valco baby Snap Duo double pram! There are great review videos on it on Youtube. I only paid $350 brand new!

  • City mini double gt I love it!

  • Forgot to add with the kia carnival if you do get one, make sure there are surround air bags, for safety in the back seat, i do not think all models have it..Just the upgraded….

  • For a car i can reccomend the Kia Carnival, yes its huge and has set in the back but they almost never get used unless you have guests..( which is handy if you have to pick up your kids friends) I have three kids and they sit in the middle row safely with heaps of room. The best thing is there is sliding doors so you do not have to stress to the kids about slamming the doors into other cars… And the back seats fold down for more room in the back seat than you will ever need, even when going on hoildays… Its a smooth drive and once you get use to the car easy to park… As long as you have reverse camera fitted into it, it is a asset to drive… I love mine..

  • Honda CRVs are quite good

  • We also have a Mazda 6 with 2 little ones and we are planning a 3rd at some stage so will be in a similar position. We are looking at new cars at the moment. The big thing we are finding that the bigger cars (SUVs) have more space in the car but the boot space is actually smaller than in the Mazda 6 so be sure to check the boot dimensions as well.

  • This is a very good question. We gave a Holden Colorado, not a small car. We bought a Britax Slimm Line for our bub as it’s supposed to not take up as much room as other car seats. Meant to make it easier to fit other car seats when more children come along. However, with bub and 2 adults in the back, it’s still very squishy. So you need to check these things out thoroughly

  • We only have 1 Son, but we own a 2012 Toyota Camry. It has a large amount of boot space, and we have always felt very safe travelling in it.
Great car to drive, it has lots of space in the back seat also.
Maybe go have a look around the car yards and test out a few different cars, you could even take your car seats to see how they fit into the car.
