Hello!

I am looking at investing in a slow cooker. I have never used one and just wanting some ideas of meals that can be made for the whole family.  Meals that don’t take a huge amount of prep either, something I can pull together when the baby is having a nap.

  • I often use the slow cooker to make pulled pork the day after cooking a roast pork. I add a bit if BBQ sauce, a smokey BBQ Seasoning and a little bit of water then set and forget. Goes great on baked potatoes with Coleslaw on top.

  • If you have facebook check out “My Slow Cooker Recipes” and “Slow Cooker Recipes 4 Families” these two page have hundreds of different recipes that can be made in the slow cooker from hot pots to cakes to pull aparts its amazing what you can actually cook in them.

  • Not that we use it often but we have a slow cooker and use it for making big batches of shredded beef for tacos and that sort of thing. Also got a couple of roast recipes that i use occasionally. Only reason we don’t use it more is that my husband is home in time to cook..

  • Slow cookers are fabulous when you need to prepare ahead of time, here is a link to a facebook page full of recipes https://www.facebook.com/pages/Slow-Cooker-Recipes/1404300413165069?fref=ts

  • The possibilities are endless when you own a slow cooker. From spaghetti bolognaise, to beef stroganoff, soups, silverside, any sort of roast – you will love it!

Definately check out the Slow Cooker Recipes for Families facebook page and dont be afraid to experiment

  • Oh so easy it will simplify your life. I buy some chicken thigh as they contain more moisture, pop some chopped chunks of potato and carrot on the base and prop chicken breasts on the top. Then add in a jar of Leggo’s Parmi sauce and set on high for 4 hours. Meal done in one dish, beautiful flavour and meat just falls apart, almost comes out like a lovely stew texture. Enjoy!

  • Roast lamb and veges is super easy! Also casseroles and pastas:)

  • I love stews cooked in a slow cooker as the meat is so nice an tender

  • i love beef stroganoff! and oriental honey soy chicken wings, and fudge for desserts!!

  • Wonderful invention ..I love mine particularly in the winter months. There are heaps of recipes just google and be amazed. Good luck and happy cooking. :-)

  • I’m lazy, I don’t sear meat first. We make Rogan Josh, Butter Chicken, Apricot Chicken, Goulash, T-bones in tomato soup. SO many options, and slow cooker packets (ie. Maggi, Continental) are available.

  • I do a lot of curries and stews in my slow cooker as well as pulled pork for tacos which is good for the summer months where it’s too hot to cook.
Women’s weekly have some great slow cooking books that I use a lot of the recipes. I even do roast chicken s and legs of lamb in the slow cooker

  • I love my slow cooker, you can cook a roast or silver side soups stews lasagna a cake have a look on here and also best recipes.com.au has 100s

  • I cook stew once a week in my slow cooker. Place any meat in bottom of cooker, then cut vegetables large (eg carrots in three, large to medium peeled potatoes into 6 pieces) cover with water and cook on high for 5 hours. The same technique is used for lamb shanks. The meat just falls off the bone. I have done lasagne but that is a bit more involved.

  • Love my slow cooker! Lots of great recipes on this site and the woman’s weekly slow cooker recipe book is very handy.
