  • I always preferred dinners. Cook up a lasagne that will feed the family for a couple of nights. But i fyou want to go hamper – fruit and nuts are great. Cookies (you might be able to get those lactation cookies which are actually really yummy).

  • I think any iron rich and protein rich foods will be good like nuts & seeds, beautiful seeded crackers, dried apricots/fruits, brown rice, lentils & beans, coconut and what about some dinner vouchers ?

  • I would include jars of pasta sauces, curry pastes etc to make quick and tasty meals.

  • Lactation Cookies, meatballs/lasanga in metal trays (the heat and then throw ones to save dishes), a nice water bottle, chamomile tea – great idea!

  • Stocked up on oats for cooking for the hamper.

  • Love the suggestions so far – many thanks for the hamper ideas.

  • If you want to bake then a slice with oats in it is great! The oats help with milk production 🙂

  • I would put lovely items such as pate, crackers, alot of different cheeses, gorgeous chocolates and biscuits, jams and items that are not every day items but just a bit special!

  • This is the first I heard of a food hamper for a new mum. I would start with fresh fruits and veggies, maybe some bread and butter, milk and coffee or tea. A packet of Tim Tams for a treat 🙂
